I slowly open my eyes trying to imagine where I could be. There is a bright light shinning overhead. I begin to sit up, but fall back down feeling lightheaded.
"Alexandrea, please stay laying down until you're strong enough." Said a soft, kind voice. "I have called your mother but I have learned she isn't home for a week."
We go a few moments silent until I ask what happened even though I remember.
"Jessica Anderson found you passed out on the bathroom floor. She ran to get me and we brought you back here. You're lucky she saw you. One more minute and you could have been in serious danger."
"Really? That's what you heard? Well that's n- uhm that's very uh good." I was able to catch myself from saying it wasn't true. I remembered Jessica's threat.
The nurse and I talked for a while and I learned I was out for three hours. The bell for the last class of the day had rung about ten minutes ago but the nurse told me to wait before I go. Finally, she agreed to letting me leave the office.
Because there was no one in the halls, I took my time to get to my locker and then my class. Once I reached my classroom, my anxiety took off making me too nervous to open the door. About five minutes later, Jake, the person I sit next to, walked out of the door and I slid in to class without much attention. Jake and I weren't friends, even though I wish we were, but he was super kind and always talks to me. Once Jake returned back into class he asked me if I was okay.
"Hey Alex. Are you okay? Your hair is stained red and is stuck together. I heard that you passed out in the bathroom." He whispered trying not to be caught by the teacher
"Excuse me Jake, but this is my class. You can talk to her later." The teacher said without even turning around.
I ripped out a piece of paper from my binder and wrote
Thanks for the concern. I guess I'm okay. I still feel a little dizzy and my eyesight is a little messed up but I should be fine. Thanks!
He replied with
Okay good. Is there anything I can do to help? Would you like me to take notes for you or help out with your homework?
We wrote to each other the whole class.
A: uhm yeah. It would be great if I could copy your notes later. Are you sure you're fine with that?
J: of course. Anything to help you. Hope you feel better. So what really happened?
A: I don't really know if I should talk about it here and now.
J: oh okay I understand.
A: I will tell you. I just can't write it down
J: okay. Do you want to text me it or do you want to meet up somewhere?
A: I would love to meet up but would Ellen be okay with that? I mean she is your girlfriend and she was my best friend.
J: correction- she was my girlfriend. We broke up.
A: oh I'm so sorry. You okay?
J: yeah I'm fine. I broke up with her.
A: oh.
J: yeah so where do you want to meet tonight?
A: Doesn't matter to me anything is good :)
J: how about next to the lake?
A: sounds great. What time?
J: well what time do you have to be home?
A: doesn't matter. My moms not home for the week and my sister is at a friends all week.
J: oh okay. Let's meet at 5:30
A: okay :)
The dismissal bell rings and I decide to walk home. As I walk out of the class room Jake calls out "5:30. See ya!"
I reach my locker grab my bag and head to the front doors to walk home when I see Jessica.
"Oh you're back"
"Yep I am. And great cover story for you hurting me."
"Thanks. See unlike you I can do things right. So have you learned that you should kill yourself yet? I mean look at that pathetic face. And your body. Look at you you're so fat. If I were you I would stop eating. You're so ugly."
I turn to my right trying to ignore what Jessica just told me because honestly I already believe it. Instead of being able to leave the drama I see Ellen. She gives me a mean glare and it's obvious she saw Jake and I talking today. As I walk past her, she reaches out her foot and trips me. I fall right in a mud puddle.
"Wow Ellen. Real original."
"Just get away from me. I don't want your worthlessness to rub off on me."
I just get up and walk away. I don't want to be late for meeting Jake. For once I might have a friend.
I get home and immediately Jess meets me at the door. I reach down and scoop her up cradling her in my arms.
"I'm going to meet Jake in an hour, okay?"
Jess meows then happily jumps out if my arms.
I walk up the stairs and enter my room. I find an outfit to change into because mine is currently covered in mud. I find my black skinny jeans, a My Chemical Romance shirt, and some red converse. I also grab some rubber wristbands, my black tattoo choker, and a long sleeves sweat shirt because my shirt doesn't cover my arms and wrists. I take the clothes to my bathroom and lay them on the bathroom counter. After a quick shower, I change clothes and fix my makeup. After I end up jabbing my eye with mascara three times, I sort of give up on my makeup with only completing consealer, foundation, mascara, and eyeliner. Finally it reaches 5 and I hop into my black jeep which is covered in scratches and dents from the previous owner. Since my family doesn't have the most money because my fathers death two years ago after my parents divorce five years ago and the money we received from him was put into me getting into a college, we had to buy an old jeep that works only half of the time. I head down the street on my way to the lake with my book bag (it's not too big so it looks like a purse) and I blare my music on the way to meet Jake.
