Five

My plan to try to go to sleep early doesn't work as well as I thought. Without having any sleep yet again, my alarm goes off. I do my usual morning routine to get ready for school. I grab my coffee and my bag and walk to school again.
As I enter the school it's louder than the rest of the days of school this week. Of course it is. It's Friday. We also don't have school on Monday for a student holiday so most people are very excited. To top it all off, the head cheerleader Katie and her boyfriend Zach are having a party. They always have one party a year that is huge. Basically everyone goes and even if there are people too young there, everyone is drinking. Over half the people get drunk. I mean that's what I have heard. I haven't actually ever gone. It's too many people and I know for a fact that Jessica and her group would be there.
First period goes by pretty slowly. I try to pain close attention but today's lesson is so boring I can't stay focused. I end up sketching during class. Luckily I don't get caught. The bell rings and I'm the first to leave.
Yesterday this is when Jessica found me. I hope she is too busy planning what to wear to the party that she forgets to even look for me. I see her as I walk down shakes but she doesn't notice me. I make it to my locker and to second period without any trouble. The rest if the day goes smoothly like this until right before fifth period comes.
I was walking to my class and the bell that says if you are late is about to ring. As I turn the corner, three people stop me and drag me back deeper into the halls away from the classrooms filled with students and teachers. They drop me onto the ground and kick me as hard as they can. Finally they stop and Ellen begins to speak.
"I can't believe that the day after Jake and I break up you just happen to be his best friend. Whore!"
"What do you mean? We just started taking!"
Ellen kicks me again but this time with the heel if her high heel. I try to move out of the way but it ends up hitting me right on my eyebrow. I begins it feel blood drip down my face and moves around my eye with only some getting into my eye.
When Jessica, Renee, and Ellen are yelling all these words to me telling my that I'm worthless and stupid, Jake leaves class and hears them. He walks down the hall and sees me on the ground surrounded by a pool of blood with more blood pouring from my face. He seems shocked from this. He looks away from me and to to Ellen. They begin arguing but I end up just hearing muffled noises. My eyes begin to close and open slowly when I feel someone picking me up off the ground and they begin to run. I end up passing out and wake up back in the nurses office. She says I haven't been out long only for about 20 minutes. She doesn't make me stay and once I'm up she lets me go to class. When I walk into class, Ellen looks shocked and the teacher looks confused as to why I have been late to his class the past two days. I hand him the pass the nurse gave me and turn around and head over to my seat. Jake looks at me and he says he is sorry it happened again. After class needs he asks if he could walk with me. I have to go to the library so I say sure.
"Alex I saw what they did to you and I'm really sorry. Can I help you at all?"
"Thank you but I'm fine. I'm just glad you left the class at the right time."
"Yeah I saw you in third period then I didn't see you in fifth so I was curious."
We walk to the library and he decides to stay with me and walks me back after I'm done at the library. I told him he didn't have to but he said he didn't have anything else to do. I found three books and them left. Half way to my house he stops me.
"You need to text me this weekend. I really would love to get to know you even better than I do now. You seem like such a great person."
"Yeah I'll text you this weekend. But trust me, I'm not that interesting or that much of a great person. I'm just average."
"No you aren't. I can tell now just by what I know about you that you aren't."
"Oh thank you. It's nice that you think I am."
We continue walking and talking. We basically end up talking about what happened today. Once I reach my home he says bye and reminds me to tech him later.
I unlock my front door and walk in to see Jess running down the stairs to greet me. I play with her a bit then go up to my room to begin reading.
