Chapter Seven: Part Seven
There it was; the hate. The hate Astraea had always seen in Kion's eyes. The hatred that radiated from him whenever he saw her. The familiar pain formed in Astraea's chest, but she kept the outward appearance of calm. "I'm glad to see you, Kion," she said, keeping her tone soft.
"Stay back!" Gwenette exclaimed, jumping to her feet and positioning herself between Astraea and Kion. "Don't come any closer, Princess!"
"Gwenette," Primrose called out. She stood with the wall of soldiers at Astraea's back. "You're a smart woman. One of the smartest people I know. Do you really perceive us as a threat?"
Gwenette's eyes widened as she looked at her former comrade. Though she maintained her protective stance, after a few moments her shoulders drooped slightly. Behind the Prince and his assists, Kion's soldiers armed themselves but watched the Reformation Army with trepidation.
Kion rose to his feet and drew his flyssa once more. He nudged Gwenette aside. "Forward march," he rasped.
The pain in Astraea's chest spread but she held firm. "I'm not here to fight you, Kion," she said. "I want you to join me—"
"FORWARD MARCH!" Kion hollered.
Kion's three units surged forward, yelling battle cries and raising their weapons. Astraea raised her hand. "The Shredding!"
The True Rune spell hit Kion's unit directly. Gwenette was able to knock Kion aside and they avoided the spell, but most of the soldiers were injured by the spell.
"Earthquake!" Sasarai called from further down the line, and the powerful True Earth Rune spell struck the unit to Kion's right.
"Twinkling Star," Zerase called out from the other end of the line, and the Star Rune spell struck the unite to Kion's left.
"Damn!" Kion snapped, scrambling to his feet. "Back me up, Gwenette," he said harshly.
"Oh course, Your Highness," Gwenette said.
"Kion this is unnecessary!" Vahan snapped. "Do not side with the human garbage who killed our sister!"
"I'm not," Kion said harshly. "That's why I'm going to kill her!" he lunged at Astraea.
Dawa jumped in front of Astraea and swung her whip quickly over her head. The tip cracked against Kion's forehead but he did not falter. "Sworn Protector!" Dawa shouted.
"Right!" Astraea said, readying her knout. They did their unite attack against Kion, and it was thankfully enough to cause the Prince to jump back. " Mystical Protector!" he called out.
"Yes, Prince!" Gwenette shouted, and Astraea realized that they were doing their unite attack. Astraea had heard that it was a unite attack that only affected one foe, and it was a blend of magic and physical attacks. Sure enough, Gwenette started the unite attack with a spray of fire from her rune. She directed it towards Dawa, who dodged the attack. But when she dodged the attack, Kion was there and he stabbed his Flissa towards her. Luckily Dawa was able to roll away, but the blade nicked her arm.
"Dawa!" Astraea cried out.
"It's just a flesh wound, I'm fine!" Dawa called out.
"Fall back, Dawa!" Brendan said, and he surged forward with Sigrun, Vahan, and Denzel. " Royal Family C!" he shouted.
It was a unite attack he had with Sigrun. Brother and sister raised their swords and lunged forward. They swung their swords at Kion, but Gwnette jumped in the path of their blades. The siblings thankfully managed to pull back and jump away.
