Apoorva's POV
I felt outzoned as everyone seemed engrossed in their own stuff. Vivaan disappeared from my sight long ago with his new sweetheart, and Poonam was busy having quality time with her Mayank. These two are definitely gonna date, and I can be confident about it.
In case you think that I'm sad, or I feel lonely because the guy I was in love with is now in love with someone else, nay! I'm Apoorva Randhawa. Crying over guys isn't my personality. In fact, I make them chase me. Surely, Vivaan will be on his knees if I try to win him, but I'm just not in my Katherine Pierce era right now, probably because God's happy with Prerna at the moment.
Lost in my thoughts, I spotted Shayar standing at a distance from the dance floor, his eyes fixed on Sara, who was totally lost with her best friend Ayra and whoever that guy was-Rajveer. I could sense he was hurt, or maybe jealous, just probably carrying that unreal smile to look alright.
I decided to approach him. What could go wrong? "Don't you like to dance?" I asked casually.
"Nope, actually I don't know how to dance," he replied without turning his face toward me. Ahh, that was so annoying. He couldn't even bother looking at me? But fine, I needed someone to kill time with until Poonam was free from her would-be boyfriend. Otherwise, boredom was going to kill me.
"If you wouldn't mind, main bohot achhe se sikha sakti hoon... dance," I said, letting a bold note creep into my voice.
"Thank you so much for that, par main seekhna hi nahi chahta hoon," he said, his eyes still fixed on Sara.
"Well, I know what's up with you," I said, trying to sound mysterious.
"What's up with me?" he finally turned to look at me, a faint crease forming on his forehead.
"Oh, finally you looked at me!" I said, grinning.
"Yeah? Then?" He raised a brow, unimpressed.
"Ugh-nothing, I mean mujhe lagta hai ki aap bhi meri tarah yahan bore ho rahe hain," I said, shrugging dramatically.
"Shayad, haan," he admitted with a half-hearted nod, his gaze drifting back to Sara.
"Pyaar karte ho usse?" I leaned closer and whispered, my smirk teasing.
"Ex-cuse me? What?" His reaction was priceless. He grimaced as if I'd just spoken in alien tongue.
"Well, you can act clueless about that, but you are not. I know," I said, my smirk growing wider.
"You're weird!" he said abruptly and walked away.
What? How dare he call me weird? I mean, normally talking to people is called weird these days? This place sucks.
Left standing there, I scanned the room again. Ugh, I didn't know where the hell Poonam had disappeared, and I was officially out of patience. This party was turning out to be the definition of "a waste of a good outfit."
I decided to grab a drink from the bar. Maybe a mocktail could lighten my mood. As I sipped my drink, I couldn't help but notice Shayar again. He'd joined a group near Sara, trying to laugh at some joke, but his eyes gave him away. Man, that guy was pathetic. Unrequited love and all that drama-it was like a sad indie movie.
For a fleeting moment, I considered intervening again, just for fun. Maybe tease him a bit more, but I stopped myself. Why waste energy on someone who couldn't even appreciate my sarcasm?
Instead, I leaned back against the bar, surveying the scene. Vivaan was nowhere to be seen, probably still lost in his love-struck daze with Prerna. Poonam and Mayank were laughing over something at the corner, and Shayar was... well, still sulking over Sara.
