Chapter 5

“So, do you want to know?” Zayn asked. All I could do is nod. I was torn in half. I wanted to know, but at the same time, I didn’t. Well, I was going to have to find out sooner or later.”

“One week. And then your all mine.” He smiled evilly.

I had one week left. One week left of not being beaten. One week of living. Because Zayn would surely kill me if I wasn’t dead by the end of the week. Shit.

“What do you want with me?” I whispered. “Why do you keep doing this to me?” I stared down at my lap. Zayn and I stayed like that for eternity. I only looked up when I heard a door close. Zayn was no where in sight. I let out a happy sigh.

Zayn’s POV

How do I respond to that? Do I say I did it because I love her, or do I say something cut through and mean? I couldn’t take it anymore. I stood up and walked out of the room. I needed to think. She looked up right as the door closed. I couldn’t place her expression. It was most relief, which pained me, but also sadness. I closed the door before she saw my smile. She was sad to see me go!!! Whoo!! I did a little happy dance in the hallway.

People were looking at me weird. Hell, I’d even look at me weird. Then all of a sudden, I stopped dancing. I was in a hospital. Were people were dying. Why was I dancing?

I walked down to the cafeteria. Along the way, I passed that sultry nurse who I hooked up with the other day. She winked at me. I gave her a half smile. That nurse was a bitch, I think her name was Molly? Mary? Margaret? I have no idea. God, I wanted nothing to do with her.

The only reason I even got close to her was so he could give me some of Sarah's records. Like when she could go home. But it turns out, I got a lot more.

Sarah was struggling with a lot of things. She had lost her brother when she was 8, he was kidnapped. His body turned up 17 days later. Her grandfather died when she was 4, in a car crash, and she was in the car.

And to top things off, she was diagnosed with stage 2 liver cancer 5 years ago. Shaking my head, I walked into the cafe.

In the café, I grabbed some chicken noodle soup, and a turkey sub. It was my turn up at the register. I put my tray on the scale and looked up at the cashier. The girl was staring at me, which was quite creepy, even though I was a superstar and all. Just something about her freaked me out.

“So how much is it?” I asked her, trying not to be rude.

“Hmm? Oh it 13.4 – YOUR ZAYN MALIK!!!” She screeched into my ear. Ow. Girl got big lungs.

“Uh, ya. That’s me. Can you please, maybe, keep it on the down low? Please? I don’t want this hospital to turn into a meet-and-greet.” I told her.

“Uh, um, uh, what d-did you just say?” I sighed. She was in shock.

“Don’t tell anyone I’m here. Understand?” I told the girl slowly, like I was talking to a three year old. She slowly nodded back.

I handed her a twenty dollar bill and pulled up my hood and put my sunglasses on. I decided not to eat in the café; it would be too easy for some die-hard-fan to spot me. I grabbed a lid and put it on my soup, so it wouldn’t spill, and also grabbed a spoon. Liam would kill me. Oh well, I’ll deal with that later.

I stepped onto the elevator and headed up to Sarah’s room. And what I saw in there made my heart stop.
