"I never expected any of this," Eunha murmured, more to herself than to Ian.
Ian shifted his weight, but didn't respond right away. He didn't need to. Sometimes silence was the best response, the most genuine kind of support.
"You never know what life's going to throw at you," he said finally, his voice quiet but steady. "But... you're not alone in this."
Eunha turned to him, her eyes searching his face.
She wasn't sure if she was looking for reassurance or something else. But Ian gave her neither promises nor answers.
Just the simple truth that she wasn't facing the unknown by herself.
Before she could speak again, a voice cut through the air, breaking the quiet.
"Eunha."
Taekwang.
Eunha turned, surprised, her chest tightening as her eyes found him standing just a few feet away. His gaze was sharp, scanning her, before he flicked his eyes to Ian, then back to her.
"What are you two doing here?" Taekwang's voice was casual, but there was an edge to it, like a protective instinct barely hidden beneath the surface.
Ian didn't flinch. He met Taekwang's gaze without hesitation.
"We were talking," he said easily. "Just catching up."
Taekwang's eyes narrowed slightly, not out of suspicion, but something else.
He seemed to be weighing the situation, seeing Eunha sitting next to Ian, both of them quiet but not awkward. Maybe he wasn't entirely sure what to make of it, but his attention was on Eunha now.
His gaze softened when it landed back on her, his voice dropping to a quieter, more personal tone.
"Are you okay?" he asked, his concern obvious.
Eunha blinked, her heart skipping a beat at how easy it was to hear the worry in his words. For a moment, she didn't know how to answer. She wasn't okay, not really, but saying it aloud didn't seem like it would make a difference.
"I'm fine," she said, but her voice wavered just slightly.
Taekwang took a step closer, his focus unwavering. He didn't say anything at first, just stood there, as if waiting for her to offer him the truth.
Ian, sensing the shift, took a step back. There was no awkwardness in the movement—no hesitation. He was giving her space, allowing Taekwang to be the one she needed right now. The way Ian was standing, slightly apart but still solid and present, spoke volumes about the growing trust between the two of them.
He didn't feel threatened by Taekwang, nor did he feel the need to interfere. They were both on the same side, even if neither would admit it outright.
Ian wasn't the type to make things complicated, and he understood that Taekwang and Eunha shared a bond he wasn't part of.
"You know you don't have to go through all of this alone, right?" Taekwang said softly, his voice gentle, yet firm.
Eunha looked at him, really looked at him, and she saw the sincerity in his eyes. There was no hidden agenda, no manipulation—just the simple offer of support.
"I don't know how to deal with any of this," she confessed, her voice breaking a little. "I didn't even ask for it. I don't know what I'm supposed to be or how to fix what I've already broken."
Taekwang's expression softened. He crouched down in front of her, his voice quieter now, almost like a secret between them. "You don't have to know everything right now. I know you're scared. But you're not alone. Not while I'm here. Not while we're here."
Eunha's heart squeezed at his words, the warmth of his promise sinking into her chest. She didn't have all the answers, and maybe she never would, but just hearing that—it made her feel less lost.
Her eyes flickered to Ian, who was watching them from a short distance away, arms crossed but not with the usual tension. He seemed content, standing back, letting Taekwang be the one to comfort her. They were both giving her space in their own ways, and that was something she wasn't sure how to handle, but it was also something she deeply appreciated.
Eunha slowly stood up, taking Taekwang's outstretched hand, the contact grounding her more than she expected.
"Let's get out of here," Taekwang said, his voice light as he offered her a small smile. "You don't need to be stuck in this headspace anymore. There's a whole world outside of this."
Eunha looked at him, then back at Ian. She felt the quiet support in both of them, two sides of the same coin, both offering her something she hadn't realized she needed so desperately.
Ian nodded, a small, understanding smile playing at the corner of his lips. "Go. We'll figure this out together," he said, before turning to leave, giving her and Taekwang their moment.
As she walked away with Taekwang, she felt a little lighter, not because the weight had disappeared, but because she wasn't carrying it alone anymore.
