A/N will edit later because I have to go wipe the sweat from by brow because writing a werewolf fighting scene is HARD as in level difficult and I think my heart was racing with adrenaline at one point lol. But I hope you like :)
Ripping metal reverberated through my head until it made me bare my teeth, cringing. James however placed a hand on the door, pausing to look at me. His tall, brooding frame in his black clothing was a sight to see. The way his neon eyes focused on me, rooted me in place as if I was the only thing that existed in this world. His face was smooth and handsome, hard as if nothing in this world could ever phase him. Except his eyes were slightly softer with the laces of concern. Of course there was concern in them. Despite only recently taking an interest in me, I am his mate. I belong to this pack. Here is my destiny.
His full lips parted. "Are you sure about this?"
A flurry of nerves erupted in my stomach. His question made what I decided to do real. I couldn't trust myself to speak so my palms curled into fists and I nodded.
His jaw set and he looked ready to order me to change my mind. But then we heard a feminine scream of absolute agony and I knew it wasn't Raquel. I moved for the door just as James swung it open and we were in the hallway engulfed with the roars and sounds of a full blown werewolf-versus-Rogues war inside the cave. We ran into the main room together but he made sure to stay close to me, his body at an angle to obscure me from the view of the intruders.
A woman spotted us and immediately leapt over a chaise to get to me. Her eyes were bloodshot, her pupils large and crazed. Her scarred thin lips were pulled back in a feral sneer and her off-white, razor sharp teeth were extended to their wolf length. She was in front of James in a flash and swiped at him, her claws making a swish sound as they swatted. My mate blocked her attack with a quick-witted raise of his arm and when her other one came up and swiped toward his neck, his fingers had already extended to claws and he barely blocked her attack as his free arm pushed hers back before inserting his claws into her abdomen. She roared, furious. Her claws dug into his bare forearms scraping and scratching even as he lifted her off the ground and threw her several feet through the air. She toppled over the chaise and just as quickly, another Rogue appeared in front of us, launching himself at James. That feminine screech of pure pain bellowed again and my eyes swept the room for Eva.
Cort was on his own, near the hall leading into the other suites. He moved so fast and fluidly on his feet, his weapons aimed with precision and centuries of werewolf hunting taught skill laced his movements. He was holding back not one but two wolves on his own, a knife that I knew was coated in wolfsbane in his left hand, a loaded gun that was firing a series of powerful shots into the wolves in front of him in his right. Though they recoiled with each gun wound, their bodies jerking with each shot, they kept coming toward the masked hunter like a pair of zombies seeking human flesh. Ryder and Raquel held their own though they were outnumbered, three against two near the entry of the cave. They fought side by side, moving around each other protecting the other's back as if they'd fought together before. My eyes widened when I caught sight of Mike on his back, struggling with a Rogue on top of him who was snapping his jaws inching closer to his face. But the ceasing in my chest eased as I watched him reach up, rooting his hands on either side of the man's face and in one sharp twist, snapped his neck. Colby, whom I'd assumed was our weakest link because he trained the least and was the adorable nerdy member of the pack, used his wits in attacking from behind. He sought the wolves coming after Cort, grabbing one from behind before hissing in their face and thrusting his claws through their thick leather jacket. The man's angry face turned to bewilderment as he looked down. Colby pulled his hand from the man's body with his bloody heart in his hand then he shoved him away, tossing the dislodged organ along with the fallen corpse.
