The screams were overwhelming, filling my ears, making me scream because I knew what was coming. I opened my eyes and pain immediately snaked through my body. I was knocked down to my hands and knees by the intensity of the rapid stabbing pains poking at my heart like a silver knife. I felt them and their fear leaving me, one by one, being ripped apart, dying.

The fires blazed before my eyes, with me in the center as they began to close in. They trapped me, licking and twisting through the dry grass around my feet. I heard my name being called on the other side of the roaring flames and my wolf vision heightened, zeroing in on the chaos befalling upon my city. The Jilo were killing my people, my family, my pack.

"Diana!" a shrill voice rang out over the rest and I turned my head toward it. I tried to call out, but I choked on the thick, smokey air. My vision shifted in and out, but I was able to make out a bloody Mary through my blurry vision. She was cornered by two men with her back up against a haystack. One man held her arms above her, and, with one swift motion, the other raised his spear and drove it through her heart. I screamed, clenching my chest, feeling Mary leaving me, feeling my skirts catching fire and I could no longer breathe.

I fell backwards into the flames.
