"So what kind of pizza are we getting tonight ladies?" Cat asked, waving her phone around to get her friend's attention, since it was getting late into the evening.
"Hawaiian." Ellie said confidently as Riley groaned.
"Ellie, we've been over this a thousand times. Pineapple does not belong on pizza." Riley chastised as the defender shook her head.
"It totally does. You're all just haters with no taste."
"Woah, why am I being lumped into this?" Cat said incredulously as Ellie turned to her.
"Because we both know you would disagree with me on this if it meant getting the chance to rile me up."
"True, but pineapple on pizza is good. Riley is in the minority in this situation."
Riley huffed and relented.
"Fine, let's just get two pizzas so I can have normal toppings."
Cat unlocked her phone and began to place the order as Ellie turned on her TV. Some time ago, they had compiled a list of horror movies on their watch list, and today, they were tapping into the stash, Ellie flipping through the several movies they had added over the years.
"Anyone feel particularly passionate about watching a certain movie tonight?" Ellie asked as Riley and Cat both shook their heads.
"I'll just pick the first one that comes up then." Ellie said, deciding that the best course of action would be to decide for all three of them, otherwise they would be here all night. After setting everything up and playing the movie, Ellie felt her phone vibrate against her leg, getting a delivery notification from the florist and a text from Dina at the same time. She beamed, Cat and Riley fully aware of why since they had come to help her pick the roses, the two watching Ellie with rapt attention as Cat slowly rose to her feet.
Before Ellie could fully pick up her phone, Cat had snatched it from her to read the text, Ellie cheeks going hot as she grasped for it and missed, Cat reading the message Dina sent and responding, reading what she was typing out loud as Ellie scrambled to get her phone back.
"Oh Dina, you're so pretty I miss pining after you from across the room. The day we reunite shall be glorious and filled with-" Cat started as Ellie simultaneously chanted a string of, "Stop it stop it stop it."
Ellie at long last managed to wrangle the phone from Cat's hands and deleted the typed out message, retreating to the far side of the couch as she glared at the midfielder.
"I can't believe you would delete such a well crafted message." Cat said as she crossed her arms, sitting back down with a smug expression.
"I'll craft you a message, and it starts with a F and ends with a U." Ellie grumbled as she spared a cautious glance down at her phone, reading Dina's simple message.
D: You did not.
Ellie smiled, taking a moment to immerse herself in her device and respond.
E: I did. Does it match?
The pair had a short conversation before Dina stopped replying, likely chewing Mel out for her conspiracy in helping Ellie as the striker returned her focus to the movie.
For the past week, Ellie had been hellbent on finding an excuse to gift Dina something, in part for homecoming but also because of her atrocious behavior at their last game. She had wracked her brain by herself trying to come up with something, but came up short, eventually deciding to head to downtown Jackson with her friends to feel out if any shops sparked inspiration, which was when they discovered the flower shop.
