If Ellie knew anything about herself, she knew one thing.
She wasn't the relationship type. Each time she attempted to let someone in, it was met with extreme resistance on her part, the auburn haired girl ultimately shutting them out and running away altogether.
After all, it never did her any good.
She blankly stared ahead at the board, tuning out her teacher as he prattled on about this essay being a huge part of their grade and yada yada. Ellie had already went ahead and finished half of it, having no intention to listen to his lecturing on how it should be done when she knew her way was right.
Eventually they were released for independent work, Ellie picking up her pencil and softly drawing in the corner of her loose leaf notebook paper, ensuring that she could erase it and leave no trace of its existence afterwards.
"Ellie? You in there?" Cat asked, turning and rapping her pencil against her desk, effectively snapping Ellie out of her train of thought.
"Yes." Ellie grumbled, running a hand though her auburn hair as Cat stared at her skeptically.
"You've been acting weird all week." Cat commented, and yeah, she had been acting strange. Because she drunkenly kissed her cross town rival and hadn't begun to process it, much less deal with how she felt about it.
"Well it's been a weird week." Ellie responded vaguely, Cat seeing right through her and rolling her eyes.
"You know, you don't have to be ashamed to admit it was good." Cat said unhelpfully, Ellie feeling her ears turn red.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Ellie retorted, Cat giving her a knowing look.
"Oh really? She was wearing lipstick you know." Cat said, Ellie's eyes widening to the size of dinner plates.
"She was?" Ellie said, completely baffled and assuming that's what had given them away in the first place, her hand touching her lips absentmindedly in the shock.
"Nope." Cat said cheekily, "But thanks for confirming what I already knew."
Ellie fought the urge to kick her shin under the desk.
"You are a bad person." Ellie grumbled through gritted teeth as Cat smiled at her, the bell ringing and signifying the end of class. The instructor shouted further advice over the noise of everyone packing up and chatting.
It was an ongoing joke since freshman year between Cat and Ellie (mostly Cat), that Ellie had a crush on Dina. Ellie had finally managed to stop Cat from beating the dead horse of a joke until of course, it got new life at the party.
Ellie was never going to hear the end of it.
"Going to lunch RK?" Cat asked as Ellie nodded, slinging her back pack over her back with a confused look.
"RK?" Ellie asked, seeing Cat fight to keep a straight face which immediately raised her suspicion as the two headed towards the door.
"Rival kisser." Cat said as normally as she could, a smile making its way onto her face as Ellie shushed her loudly, the black haired girl throwing her head back and laughing.
"Can I get dibs on being the maid of honor?" Cat asked as the pair moved down the hallway, Ellie feeling her face growing hot with each passing moment.
"No, I believe that would go to me." Riley said, almost materializing beside Ellie which made her huff.
Of course.
"Although who's Ellie getting married to?" Riley said, only able to catch the tail end of the conversation.
