I'm just gonna get into it. Here we go.
I slink around school, waiting to see Amy. Phil and I have been practicing what I do at night, being invisible. Phil is very popular due to his bad boy but sensitive personality, so it's harder for him, but he's really acing it. Then I see her. Strawberry blond hair and green eyes. The complete opposite of me. She walks toward the dock as I run to intercept her.
"AMY WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL." I yell with as much force as I can. She turns around and sees me, her face turning to panic. And she jumps. Anyone else would see this as completely normal but I know otherwise. My legs stop supporting me and I fall. Phil flys as fast as he possibly can to catch her. And of course he does. Her cries are heard from underneath the school. I cry as I see her face, she's given up. I rush to hug her, both of us sobbing.
"I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry" I sob as she nods into my shoulder. After a few minutes she says she will fly home and I watch her. Phil flys us to the forest, the sun going down.
"Dan it's not your fault." He says. The sun lowers under the horizon.
"It was, I'm worthless" I cry. The sun is completely gone from sight when I feel something pressing against my lips. His lips. I kiss back hard, full of pain and sorrow. I kiss him until he backs and says
"Dan I love you." I smile and say
"I love you too." Now I really wish I could say it stayed this way forever. That was our happily ever after. We went home, got officially married, adopted and lived every day to the fullest. I think that all of this might really happen. Until I feel a shooting pain run down my back and my world turns black.
* *
My eyes shoot open to the sound of screams. My own. The back of my shirt is caked in liquid, and tears are streaming down my face."Dan, oh my god, stay calm. This never happened. It was so easy, they just popped out." Phil says panicking. I can't speak, the pain burning my entire back in a hot fast strike. Then I start to feel a ripping sensation and I scream as loud as I possibly can. Clouds start to form, rain falls with slate. The ground shakes. Trees grow and die while snow begins to fall. The stars all go out. The snow turns red. Fire burns through the forest. Light explodes as I scream again and again. Then with one more horrible rip it all stops. Phil, struck with terror, just stands in the middle it it all.
"Can you help me stand?" I say, terrified about what just happened. But Phil isn't looking at me. He's looking at what's behind me. He reaches out a hand hesitantly, and pulls me up. I feel unbearably weak.
"Dan. You have wings." Phil gasps. There's no way right? I'm a lost cause. I walk slowly toward a pool of water, and look down. And instead of the pale, skinny boy, a taller, still pale but handsome young man stands. And as I stretch, I see exactly what is behind me. Two ginormous black wings that shine like a prism, light bouncing off them with different colors. Still soaked in blood, they are terrifying.
"Phil?" I whisper.
"Yeah?" Phil says, scared.
"Help me home. I need to have a talk with my parents." I say, sounding more determined.
He nods and helps me home.
* *
I had Phil tie my wings, tight enough so that they would be under my shirt, but not strong enough that I couldn't break them free. I walk with Amy, who doesn't know anything, to the table, so that we could eat.
"Dan, I heard you weren't at school." My mum says, looking disapproving.
"Dan it's bad enough you're wingless, this is hurting our reputation." My dad says sharply. My sister usually would look smug, but she's still broken over today.
"Mum, Dad, you know how I'm a defect, and wingless? And how every one thousand years there is a winged one with powers beyond belief that's an early bloomer." I say.
"Yes Dan, what's it to you?" Mum says. I stand up from the table, and my wings rip out of my shirt, my family's shocked faces exactly what I was looking for.
"Looks like I came a little late." I say with a crooked grin. My sister just has her mouth wide open while my dad can't stop stuttering.
"What are those. And why are the covered in blood?" My mother barely gets out. I flex them to their full length.
"Not sure, but I think they add a nice touch." I say devilishly. I take out a feather, and grab a paper. The ink is just like my wings, black but with a rainbow of colors when light shines on it.
"How. My wings were always the best. Now you come along. You aren't an angel. You're a demon." My sister filled with jealously spits out.
"Might be true. But I'm going to go to sleep. I have a very big day tomorrow. School and then a meeting with the elders. I know it's really hard to get consul with them, but I might be an exception." I smile, starting to walk out.
"What are your powers." my father says before I leave.
"All the shit that went down before, you can blame on me. Sorry about that by the way." And I walk out. The night is usually when I find peace. But with these I can make anytime night or day. Just to show the beginning of my powers, I suck all the light out of the house. The only light in the room was from the stars and moons. Everything else beckoned to me.
* Next day *
My family is avoiding me at the moment. I didn't mean to scare them so horribly. I just wanted the bullying to stop. The constant tormenting. I walk and grab my bag from my room and then to the doorway. It's time to test out these wings. Am I really ready? Hell yeah I am. So I jump. And soar. The beauty of the sky is unimaginable. My wings are pitch black but shining so bright. School is just below, so I plunge. My wings so close to my body, almost skin tight. Then last minute, they break out. And I land softly. At first I keep my wings to myself, and no one really notices me. But when I walk into history, and I spread my wings some, the guys who always bother me turn to make a joke about wingless Dan, and realize he isn't there. They face my cruel grin and pitch black wings. You see, no one has ever even had pitch black wings. But mine have prism wrapping around them. They shut up and turn around. The rest of the class is mesmerized by them. I would be too if I didn't have to look behind to see them. This is going to be a fun day.
Yeah the kiss really wasn't that important after everything else haha. My little demon angel. Well this shits gonna be fun to write. Byessss
- xo forever xo
