Author's Note: I don't even know what to write here anymore? Want to ask me questions? Go ahead. Comment any questions you have about anything. Real life, books, me, anything you want because I have nothing better to do than respond sometimes. Haha, enjoy the chapter!

***At the park***

She was sitting on the swings. She had a long flowy red dress and her face was covered in makeup, she looked different than usual.

She didn't look cheerful, but she didn't look upset either. Her feet, which were bare, gently pushed the swing back in forth.

"Asia? Why do I need to come here?"

"Hey Nathan."

I walked over to her, and now I could see her face better. She wasn't good at hiding emotions. She was picking at her nails, not looking at me.

"Victoria, she is a drug dealer."

"No way, she is perfectly sweet."

"Where do you think they got all their money from for the wedding?"

I paced around the playground trying to figure this out. What she was saying couldn't be true, could it?

"How do you even know?"

"Because she is my father's drug dealer okay? She came to my house, and I recognized her from your picpost page."

I put my face in my hands. How was this even possible? Everything sucks. Everything just sucks.

I slam the swing down and kick around the mulch. I punch the slide. And then, I cry. I cry so hard that I am shaking. Everything just sucks.

"Nathan, don't cry, please. I hate crying, I hate when I cannot control things."

She sat beside me and wiped away my tears with her thumb. She squeezed my hand with both of hers and then, we just sat.

"Why does life suck?"

"Because Nathan, the whole point of life is survival of the fittest. And the fittest means that they were able to survive through crap. You're a survivor."

"Yeah? But, what about Jake?"

"Nathan, just calm down..."

She leaned her head into my shoulder and squeezed my hand.

"... It's all going to be okay."

***Breakfast - First day of chemo***

My mother wasn't here today. She wasnt messing up the kitchen making something for us to eat. We didn't make fun of the flour in her hair. She was out looking for a job.

I don't even know where she was looking. I think she wants to work as a secretary or a doctor's assistant. She has a master's degree in teaching, but no expierience.

It was Ava and I, eating cereal. Ava had decided to come to the hospital with me. Jake was like another brother to her.

Our house seeemed different now that dad left. All the pictures of him we took down. We didn't want a constant reminder of what he had done.

The coffee maker had been sold. I drank coffee, but not on a regular bases. My mother didn't drink any. My father however, drank coffee every morning. Again, another memory of him.

But those memories were all over the house. Like the couch where I learned how to read, sitting with him. Or the trophy from my little league champoinship game, the only one in 4 years my dad attended. These memoues stung like wasps.

We cleanes out our bowls in the sink before heading to the car.

"So how are things with you and jameson?"

"They are good. He is very sweet."

"That's good."

She rolled down her window and stuck her hand out. It made her hair blow crazy.

"What about you Nathan?"

"What about me?"

"Who are you taking to homecoming?"

"I don't know yet."

****At the hospital****

When I arrived I was happy to see Kelsey, already there. She ran up to me and gave me a big hug, and the turned to Ava, and hugged her too.

Then, suddenly I saw her. She was wearing a beanie, but all of her long, brown, hair had been shaved off her head. She spent years growing it out, and now it was all gone.

Then, Jake came up to us. He hadn't started chemo yet. He was bald too. He kissed Kelsey. She held him like it would be the last time. The saddest part is, that it might.

Seth and Quenta showed up next. Quenta was laughing at something Seth gad said, but when she spotted us, her smile quickly faded away.

"I'm really glad you guys are here. It means alot. You have to stay here, Kelsey and I are going into the room."

"But, I thought that only immediate family could get in?"

Then, Kelsey held up a ring.

Seth practically jumped out of seat and so did I. What??????

Seth yelled, "YOU'RE MARRIED? AT 16 AND 17? ARE YOU KIDDING???"

Kelsey and Jake erupted in laughter.

Kelsey responded, "Yeah, we are legally married, but just so that I can be there for chemo. If he lives, we will divorce."

Ava spoke next, "Wouldn't that be a waste of time to divorce if you are just going to get married again?"

And again, everyone laughed. It was starting to actually feel normal. Which was ironic because we were standing in a hospital with our dying friend who was about to start chemo.

*****One hour later*****

I could see her hurry through the door. Asia. Her blonde hair whipped behind her head. She spotted us all waiting and walked over, but her eyes were on me.

"Hey guys, how is he?"

Ava looked at her, "Well, he is dying sk not great."

She glared a bit at Ava, but then shrugged and walked away, toward the children's wing. I wondered where she was going.

A girl doctor in a pristine white coat and nude heels came out. Her hair was up in a perfect tight bun.

She introduced herself as Doctor Lauren.

"I have come to get Seth and Nathan. Jake wishes to see you."

I motioned for Ava to sit next to Quenta. We both stood up and followed her down the hallway. She smelled like sheets when you first take them out of the dryer and her heels tapped in perfect rhythm.

We reached his room and the white door opened. Kesley was sitting in a chair beside Jake and they were talking.

"Hey guys." Jake said turning to us.

We fistbumped and then pulled out two chairs beside Kelsey. Here we were, the fantastic four at it again. Except this time it might become the fantastic three, and that doesnt have a good ring to it.

"So dude?" Seth said, "You got married and didn't ask us to be your best men? Really?"

We all laughed yet again. Laughing was good. Laughing took away the pain. Maybe those people were right, laughing is the best medicine.

Author's Note: Thanks so much for reading! Every chapter I write I get more and more ideas for what is going to happen next. Also, alot of this book is improv. I have not decided which couples will stay together, and wether or not Jake is going to live.
