No one knew what happened.
No one saw it.
No one heard a thing.
The king was dead.
Long live the new queen.

The minute Becca heard about the assassination of her late brother, King Sky, she felt the weight of every drop of peer pressure that was thought of crushing her chest. She was too inexperienced to rule such a kingdom. The poor girl had no other family to mourn with, only the king's fiancée, Lady Alesa, was almost as close as she was with her brother. The once giddy and joy-filled castle was now reeking with quiet shuffles of each guard and sad exchanges of eyes.
Becca stopped going outside to talk to the townsfolk after the news. Lady Luck was on her side, and whoever worked inside the castle were the only ones who knew about the great tragedy. In a fit of rage and sadness, the new, young empress ordered all of her greatest soldiers and assassins to go out and find the murderer. The once happy, obnoxious, and joy-filled girl turned into a depressed, broken, melancholy, and slightly feared ruler.
The change in the castle's "life of the party" was drastic for everyone. Each of the king's friends tried to talk to her, but she wouldn't listen or respond. For the next few days, Becca spent her time by walking around the castle, trying to wake up from her nightmare.
Her nightmare that she never thought that would come true.

It has been about two weeks, and unknown to its subjects, the kingdom has been leaderless the whole time. Sub, King Sky's right hand man and most trusted advisor, was growing worried. The his friends were taking care of all of the important royal business, like the complaints from villagers and peasants, along with taxes and other boring stuff. They were holding it off too long, and everyone knew that they needed royal blood to actually do all of the work, or else the villagers would get scared, and everyone would rebel. To make it worst, the Mistress sent out all of her greatest Knights, making it easy for another attack from enemy lands. They needed the hot-headed princess to be brought back into reality and push the kingdom back to stability.
Sub decided that he should go consult Seto. Times were getting hard, and the castle workers started to talk inbetween themselves about who the infamous assassin could be. Some thought of quitting, frightened if the killer could be among them. Of course, they stayed quiet when such as himself or any of the late king's friends were nearby.
Knocking on his door, Sub let in a deep breath and waited for the praised sorcerer to answer his door. Everyone expected it to be him who did it, and Sub was greatly aware of his lack of safety. Most common people were not fond of magic. Potion brewing was a normal trait to have, but to actually have the ability to mess around with time and space itself seemed impossible. Sub had to be careful when Seto was angered.
A swift pull of the door and a slightly disheveled sorcerer stood before the mute. A soft, calming light was coming from his room, and strangely enough the feather light scent of vanilla came to Sub's senses. The silent man waved to Seto, and he smiled and let the third highest person in the kingdom come into his room.
"Hello, Sub. What brings you here?" Seto asks, waltzing back to one of his many desks and taking his place behind two brewing stands. On the desk, a clutter of books in ancient tongue, piles of glow stone dust and sugar, corks, and glass bottles decorated the environment. Sub sighed and shook is head, slightly facing the floor. His shoulders slumped and he looked back up at the sorcerer, the mute's eyes filled with sadness and disbelief. Seto instantly knew his feeling and curtly nodded in agreement.
