(A/N: The image is what Sarah looks like, courtesy of "Avatar Factory," but customized by me.  Also, Eliza has developed the skill to sneak anywhere undetected, which got her into the library, where she read every book there. Because of this, she has mentally developed faster than other kids, and will know a lot.  Just telling you guys this so as to avoid questions and possible logical discontinuity about her vocabulary and maturity.  Thanks for reading this; I'll try to make sure other author's notes aren't as long.)

*Eliza's POV*

Skipping down the street, I looked around and saw a group of kids playing at the park across the street.

'I don't recognize them, they must be new here.  Maybe they'd let me play with them, unlike the other kids.' I thought as I began to make my way over to them.

As I approached, though, they all stopped playing and turned to stare at me. Their eyes showed disgust, but they didn't say anything.

"Excuse me, can I play with you?" No sooner had the words left my mouth had the kids' lips curled into sneers, and they began to reply.

"You? No way."

"Are you kidding me? Nu-uh!"

"Why would we let a freak play with us?"

My eyes widened at that last one. As the words sunk in, my eyes began to water.

"Aww, what's wrong? Is the little monster gonna cry?" One kid mocked, as the others began to laugh.

I couldn't take it anymore and turned and ran away across the street and kept running until I came up to an alleyway. Ducking into the alleyway, I leaned against the wall and tried to catch my breath while drying my tears.

As I got my breath back, a couple passed by deep in conversation, and curiosity took over as I leaned a little closer so as to hear better.

"Ugh, how could an angel ever have any feelings for a demon?"

"I know, but to have a child together as well? Absolutely disgusting!"

"That creature sticks out like a sore thumb, who could miss it in a crowd?"

"Why has God even allowed it to stay in Heaven?"

"Well, because it isn't old enough. God isn't that cruel, but we have to be in the same world as it."

'I can't listen to any more, I have to get out of here.' I took off running into the forest as fast as I could go. I kept running and running until my legs gave out from exhaustion, then I leaned against a tree.

'Why would they say things like that? I mean, sure my eyes can change colors and my wings are dark grey instead of white, but that's no reason to leave someone out, or to hate them!' I began to cry again for about ten minutes before falling asleep.

*Time skip*

*Sarah's POV *

'Where is Eliza? She hasn't come back home yet.' I paced the floor from one side of the room to the other, from the wall to the window, where it was dark outside.

I had tried to get people to help look for her, but they all refused, everyone giving similar answers to each other: "Why would I help that abomination?" or "Who cares if it goes missing?"

So I had searched for a while on my own, but had to stop when it got too dark.

'Please be safe, Eliza.'

*Eliza's POV*

When I woke up, it was dark outside, and I had one thing on my mind: getting out of here. Closing my eyes, I felt for any nearby interdimensional connections, which is just a really fancy word for a portal to another dimension, and sensed one deeper into the forest. Beginning to walk toward the portal, I began to think.

'The deeper one goes into the forest, the more dangerous it gets, though... Maybe it's better if I-- No! If you back out, you're going to have to stay here, with those mean kids who will never accept or stop making fun of you. Oh, who are you kidding, no one likes you except Sarah.'

At the mention of "Sarah," I stopped walking.

'Sarah! What would she think? No... What if she doesn't like me either, but has to pretend because she is supposed to take care of me? Ugh, don't be stupid, Eliza! You can tell if someone's telling the truth, she's told you she loves you before, has she lied about that? No, but... If I stay to make her happy, I'll just end up hurting myself. I hate to be selfish, but this is happening to me. It's my choice to be happy, and this will make me happier.'

I took off running toward the portal, jumping over small fallen trees and rocks, until I saw a clearing coming up, with the portal in the center. Slowing down as I approached the portal, I took in its appearance: glittering silver swirling inward at the edges, with navy blue fog stretching inward to the center, where an oval three feet tall and two feet wide showed a view of the world on the other side.  It looked like Earth, from what I've read: tall trees, rolling fields and way in the distance, a gray line, stretching as far as the eye could see.

The line seemed to curl away from my view, and I guessed it was some kind of wall.  Judging by how far away the line was, it must be at least 50 meters, or approximately 164 feet, tall.  'That must be Wall Maria.'

Movement in the left side of the oval brought my attention to a large, naked human, but he had no visible, ahem.. genitals. He was one fourth the size of the trees I had seen earlier, which made him about ten meters, or thirty feet, tall.  I remembered reading about things like him one of the times I had snuck into the library. They were called "Titans" and they ate humans, but ignored other animals; size varied, but they were classified by meter: 3, 5, 10, and 15. There were outliers of these, called Abnormals, or Deviants, who would act or walk differently than the other mindless Titans, either on all fours, "crabwalking" belly up, or belly down like a spider.  Abnormals would have the same size classifications as normal Titans, though.

'I know they're dangerous, but I have wings, so I just need to get into a tree or fly away. Training myself to run and climb would be helpful just in case something happens to me that renders me unable to use my wings, that way I won't just be a sitting duck.'

I looked behind myself one last time, then went through the portal as I sent Sarah a message telepathically.

"Goodbye, Sarah.  I'll never forget you."
