"You don't happen to know how to flirt do you?" asked Elena the morning after she'd seen Elijah.
The two were outside the hotel, Elijah was about to get into a taxi just before Elena came by and interjected (that is to say if Elijah was avoiding her) thus keeping him from his ride into the city. Elijah waited by the cab and held onto the door for dear life like it was keeping him from collapsing."What makes you say that?" he asked.
Elena smiled at having caught his ears considering that the rampant house of New York City was persisting and Elijah didn't seem bothered at all."We didn't really do anything together as friends yesterday. Thought that maybe....you could make it up, thought we could maybe go get some breakfast together." Elena suggested.
Though with all his heart, Elijah truly loved the offer, but it seemed curious to him that one of his old friends from the past would turn up out of the blue and ask him to have breakfast with her; Elijah and breakfast were never like any other everyday friends or couples breakfasts together. Maybe how was the time for a change, he thought.
"Like a date?" Elijah frowned with an embarrassed smile at asking.
Elena kept her cool and shook her head to the side as she pondered over Elijah's implications; a date?! No way!"No! I meant as friends. Just two friends having breakfast together." Elena put it gentler manner of perspective.
Although Elijah was won over by Elena's gesture of hospitality, what was pestering him was how Elena knew he was leaving the hotel early at 7:49 am.
"You know, I gotta ask, out of all the possibilities how did you get up and down here at the same time as me and know I was out here?"
Elena did her best to swallow the embarrassment that was ticking away at her.
"I didn't. I just...knew." she replied to the question.
Elijah accompanied by the young beautiful third doppelgänger that he'd met got into the taxi with her and the two of them set off.

The breakfast bar that Elena and Elijah had decided to travel to was rather magnificent; it certainly had more than you'd expect to see at any other kind of breakfast bar. Elena had a pain au chocolat along with some white wholemeal bread with butter and strawberry jam and a glass of orange juice. Elijah, in the other hand had just a cup of coffee and a croissant; somehow it was shaping up to be more like a father taking his teenage daughter our for breakfast rather than two old friends catching up together after a while. Elijah swallowed the red hot black coffee liquid that ironically wasn't very stimulating as he didn't need it; he was an original vampire after all. Slow motion swept over him as he watched Elena staring into at him with a rather embarrassed and surprised expression on her face."Have I unnoticeably spilt my coffee?" Elijah stopped the awkward silence.
"No. I've just never really seen you eat before." Elena admitted her surprise.
Elijah inhaled with a breath duo laugh and took a short, quick glance at his coffee mug before he met Elena's gaze again."First time for everything." Elijah used the figure of speech that everybody was familiar with.
"Yeah. So, what happened to you and your family, you know Klaus, Rebekah?" Elena asked feeling a little nervous to inquire.
Elijah had his eyes closed for a moment or two; what he was doing was having flashback visions inside his head of what transpired for him, Klaus and Rebekah when they all walked out of Mystic Falls."We all....grew estranged, shall I say. Now we're all just taking our own paths and doing as we all please." Elijah noted out for her.
Elena paused; a quick moment to adjust what she'd heard from Elijah and let it process inside her mind.
"I understand what that's like; how it just feel to separate from people." Elena was feeling empathy.
"Your friends must be leaving to start their lives, am I right?" he asked
