Sofie's POV
I awoke to the sound of tapping on my bedroom window. I looked to my clock to see that it was only 2:00 am. Who the heck is waking me up at two in the morning??? I decided to just ignore the sound and go back to sleep, but that is easier said than done. The tapping continued and finally I got out of bed reluctantly. I opened my window that is located on the second floor of my house and poked my head out, just to have it nearly taken off by a rock! Well, not taken off, since it was only a pebble, but it could have left a bruise or cut or something! Then I would have to walk all the way over to the bathroom and get a Band-Aid. I glared at the source of the rock, only to see Joe staring up at me with a sheepish smile.
"Eh, sorry about that. I didn't think you were going to open the window at that moment. Sorry."
I stared at him blankly. "You said sorry twice."
He just looked at me curiously but cautiously, as if waiting for me to yell at him or something.
"Uh, how do you know where I live? Oh god are you, like, a stalker or something? Please don't rape me, I'm too young to be raped! Not that I want to be raped when I'm older... I never want to be raped! I mean, I know I'm awesome and all that, but I never suspected that I would ever be stalked! And I- Uh, whatcha doing?"
Joe was running around in a circle randomly waving his arms around and making weird motions and stuff. OMG HE'S DANCING! Wow, he's a really bad dancer. Why can't I have a good dancer for a stalker?
He then stopped. "I was trying to get you to stop talking without making too much noise. Now will you let me in so I don't have to keep yelling?"
"Why would I let a stalker into my room? I'm not stupid, you know."
He sighed. "I'm not a stalker. I promise. Now can I go in?"
I eyed him suspiciously. "Pinky promise?"
He raised an eyebrow at that. "Yes, I pinky promise."
"No, we're supposed to link pinkies! That's why it's called a pinky promise!" I yelled at him.
"SHHH! And fine, let me in and I'll pinky promise you properly."
"... okay. Just climb up this tree and you can get through my window from this branch right here," I said, pointing to the branch that extended to about a foot away from my window.
I watched him straddle the tree's trunk and shimmy up. The sight of him doing so caused me to burst into laughter. I was laughing so hard I had to grab onto the window sill to keep from falling over. When I finally stopped I looked out and saw that he was about halfway up the tree, although he made sure to pause and glare at me.
"How do you not know how to climb a tree?" I asked him. Seriously, half of my childhood was spent in the treetops.
"I never learned, okay! Now shush, I need to concentrate," He replied and continued on with his shimmying.
"It's easy really," I told him, ignoring his request for silence. "You just need to channel your inner monkey!"
"Oh yeah, because that's sooo easy," He retorted sarcastically.
I 'humphed.' "Here, let me have a professional show you how to do it." I reached down by my foot and picked him up. "This is my squirrel monkey. Francisco. Isn't he so adorable? He will teach you how to climb." I reached over to place Frankie on the tree branch and he started to climb down to Joe then climb back up to sit on a branch above him.
"I can't climb like a monkey because I'm not one! And... when did you get a monkey?"
"Oh, it's a long story. Whatever, just continue with your shimmy/slide routine. Whatever." I went back to my bed with Francis and snuggled him up to my chest.
I had barely started drifting to sleep when Joe finally dragged himself through my window. I groaned loudly. "Okay, so why are you here?"
"Oh, I need somewhere to stay. I got locked out of my house." He grinned sheepishly.
"Okay... *cough*idiot*cough*. So, how did you find out where I live?"
"Well, when you went back home, I followed you to make sure you got home safely," He answered awkwardly.
"AHAH! I KNEW YOU WERE A STALKER!" I pointed at him accusingly.
"No! I just didn't want you to get kidnapped or something. Here! I pinky promise!" He thrust his pinky out in my direction.
I eyed it warily before linking my own pinky with it, ensuring that he isn't lying. I sent him a big smile. "Okay, you can stay here!"
"Thanks," He gave me a grateful smile. "So, where do I sleep?"
"On the floor of course!" I replied chirpily.
"Aw, but can't I sleep in the bed with you?" He whined. "The floor is uncomfortable."
"That's too bad." I shrugged and got into bed again.
He rested his chin on the bed. "Please?" He pleaded sweetly.
I glared at him for a while before sighing and scooching over. It's 2:30 am and I really don't feel like putting up a fight for something so simple. It's not a big deal anyway, he's just sleeping in my bed, we're not going to do anything.
I heard him say good night and I mumbled a reply before slipping into unconsciousness.

"Sofie wake up! It's time to get ready for school!" Joe was shaking me, but I just grumbled sleepily and ignored his shaking. I was starting to fall asleep again when-
"WHOA!" I was pushed onto the ground.
Joe's POV
I was on Sofie's bed laughing my butt off. Really though, she should have gotten up sooner.
She lay still on the ground, soundless, and I started to get worried. I didn't push her that hard... Did I? I jumped off the bed checked her pulse to make sure she was actually alive, and sighed with relief. Good, I didn't kill her. I don't think you can actually kill a person that way anyways. I was about to start shaking her again when I heard a loud snore.
I can't believe it... She was sleeping this whole time??? Of course she would fall asleep on the floor after being pushed off the bed. With Sofie, you always have to expect the unexpected.
I sighed and picked her up carefully, not that she would have woken up, and set her back on the bed. I crawled in next to her and we both went back to sleep.
Oh well, who needs school anyways?
