How you met: Thor Odinson

You work at an Astronomy Centre in the London observatory. You love it and you've made an amazing breakthrough in Asguardian wave links, allowing dimensional travel from earth to Asgard. Jane, your boss, will be so thrilled when she hears that you can solve her long distance friendship with this Thor character she doesn't stop talking about. You would like to meet him one day.

You're sat at your desk, lazily sketching a design for the portal contraption. The telephone starts to ring. You pick it up and bring the speaker to your ear. "London Observatory, Daniel speaking."

"Hey Danny, I need you to do me a huge favour." It's Jane. You wonder what she needs you to do this time.

"Anything Jane. What's up?"

"Well, Erik just called and said that you made this immaculate discovery about a dimensional portal between Earth and Asgard." She seems to be rushing around with the amount of noise on the other end of the phone.

"Yes I have. What do you need?" You grab a pen and note pad, ready to write down a list of materials.

"Okay, I want you to sketch a rough design and I want this thing up and running by the end of September. Also Thor is coming into work with me today so get a visitors tag ready." You right a list of the things Jane said.

"All- wait what? Thor is coming?"

"Listen Dan, I'll be 10 minutes. Got to go, bye!" The phone line goes dead. You place the phone down and take in the fact that the Thor is coming in today. You smile to yourself and get right down to sketching.

15 minutes later, a very late Jane bursts through the door followed by a Thor with full hands. "Just put all the boxes down next to that desk."

"Here let me help." You stand up and take two boxes from the top of the pile, revealing a long blonde haired man with a nicely trimmed beard on top of a perfectly structured jaw.

"Much obliged, kind sir." He smiles warmly at you, flashing his bright blue eyes.

"Not a problem." You smile back and place the boxes on the floor next to your desk, Thor doing the same. He sticks his hand out in which you take firmly.

"I am Thor, of Asgard."

"I am Daniel, of Earth." You hear Jane giggle behind you.

"Are you the son of a famous scientist like Jane also?" You stand there awkwardly before a hand is placed on your shoulder.

"Daniel doesn't have any parents, Thor. He's adopted." Jane pats your shoulder lightly before walking over and putting a visitors tag around Thor's neck.

"Just like my brother Loki. It is a pleasure to meet you Daniel."

"Trust me, the pleasure is all mine. Jane?" You grab the sketches off your desk and jog after Jane, who is speed walking around the space moving things every now and again.

"Jane look!" She yanks the papers from your hands and stares at them for a second.....she throws them back into your arms and stops outside her office door.

"It's good. Like I said on the phone I want this up and running by the end of September. Thor, do you want to have a look at the new constellations I was talking about?"

Thor looks at you apologetically before slowly walking up to Jane's office. "l, uh, I'll see you around, Thor." And with a last warm smile he goes through the door, closing it behind him.

Every now and again Jane would pop in and out of her office to grab graphs and photos but that was the last you saw of Thor up until now.

"Boo!" You jump a little and turn around to find Thor leaning over your chair, grinning widely.

"Jesus Christ Thor. You scared me half to death." You let out a nervous laugh as he squats down next to your chair. Even when he's on his knees he's still tall enough to see eye to eye with you.

"What are you doing?" He looks around at all the paperwork and the colours on the computer screen.

"Oh, I'm just ordering some parts for the new portal to Asgard. Has Jane told you that we've been tracking the energy signatures of the Bifrost for months now?" His face shows a kind of closed mouth shocked eyes sort of thing. You chuckle a little at the oddness.

"I like it when you smile, and your laugh is magnificent." That last bit caught you offguard, making you blush.

"Thank you... Hey, I heard you know all about the Norse constellations. Would you mind showing me?" He smiles in the most amazing way and drags a chair across before sitting down, really close, and placing his arm along the back of yours.

The two of you talked for ages. You used the computer to show Thor the constellation and his eyes would light up everytime you clicked on a new one that he hadn't spoken about.

"Oh and this one is your southern star arrangement. There is much to tell about this specific one. In fact it-"

"Thor!" Erik cheers from the doorway. Thor turns around.

"Erik my good friend, how are you?" He walks over and they hug. You sit there quietly and patiently as Thor and Erik quickly catch up.

You start to realise that this happens to you a lot. Someone comes along and brightens your day then someone else storms in and ruins the entire effort.

"Excuse me, Daniel?" Thor's face is right in front of yours as his deep voice snaps you awake from your thoughts.

"Sorry Thor, I wasn't concentrating. Do you need something?" He looks at you concerned.

"Are you okay?" He places a hand on your shoulder and tilts his head a little.

"Yeah, I guess I'm just a bit tired. I've been working on this connection for months now and I'm losing sleep because of it. There's no doubt I'll be getting any sleep until I finish building the damn thing now." You sigh heavily.

"You need a holiday." You laugh a little.

"Damn straight I need a holiday. I'll never get any before this is, though." You look into his baby blue eyes.

"I'm taking you to Asgard!" He stands up and holds his hand up proudly.

"What?" He smiles widely at you as if he's just had a brilliant idea.

"I will talk to Jane. You are coming to Asgard with me for three days. No protests!"

"But-"

"No!" He places a finger on your lips.

"Fine. Thank you Thor." You stand up and go to shake his hand, but you get two muscly arms wrapped around you instead and you're pulled into the most comfortable hug ever.
