Chapter 6

The last day with Naomi and Lucy was sad yet amazing. They went to the Zoo, it was both Lucy's and Luke's choice; Luke wanted to see the penguins, Lucy wanted to see the lions.

So that's where they went, Alice, Kenzie, Luke, Ashton, Naomi, Lucy and Calum. Well Calum was meeting them there as there wasn't any room in the car for everyone anyway, because there was already 6 of them and Naomi only had a 5 seater, this caused Luke to have to curl up onto Ashton's lap.

The ride to the Zoo wasn't as ad as Ashton expected, because Luke was lanky Ashton expected to be squished and have really bad pins and needles, but he didn't. Which he was glad of.

"Alright shit-faces, get out of my car!"

"Not the nicest person are you? I still don't understand why we are friends." Ashton chuckled.

"It's because I'm fabulous!" Then Naomi did a sassy hair flick, just to exaggerate her sassyness.

"You must be the sass master that Ashton told me about" Calum said whilst wondering over.

"I like this boy already," Naomi spoke towards Ashton, she then turned to Calum, "you must be Calum, I'm Naomi and it's a pleasure to meet you!"

Soon everyone was introduced, everyone seemed to like Calum. Everyone but Luke. Calum took up front with the rest whilst Ashton and Like stayed towards the back, purely because Ashton could sense there was something off.

"Luke, what's wrong? You were fine in the car? Was it Calum?" But before Like could even reply, it had hit Ashton that it was this Calum who made the joke about Luke.

"Oh shit! I'm so sorry Luke, he seemed so nice that it didn't even cross my mind that it would be him the make the insult! Omg Luke please forgive me!"

"Ash, it's ok, he seems nice when he's not around his friends. I'll just keep my distance from him for a while, yeah" Luke then scurried off, Ashton first thought that it was avoids talking even more. Then he realised that he was at the penguin sanctuary and he realised that it was a bit of both. Well today's going to be fun.

After what felt like a short lifetime of seeing animals and taking photos, the day was coming to a sad end.

They were all spread around the zoo store, Ashton and Luke were contemplating whether to get the girls a leaving present- a stuffed Lions wearing a Union Jack top.

It was decided they were going to get it, when they were queuing they saw Calum walk out the store with a gift bag in his hands. After a ripoff price was paid, they all headed to the car for Alice and Kenzie to bid their final goodbye to Lucy and Naomi for a year at least- they were going chime with Calum as he lived near Alice and the girls were having a sleepover.

Calum pulled Luke to the side and handed him the gift bag, Luke timidly took the bag with a questioning look.

"I'm sorry about what I said the other day, my friends dared me to say it- i guess my priorities were wrong, I thought about what would happen to my popularity rather than how it would affect you. So this is kinda a 'I'm sorry' present even though it doesn't quite cut what I said."

Calum was known for being a dick, he was even a bit of a dick to Olivia. So this was a side of Calum that nobody had ever seen before,
"I- erm, thank you. And it's fine, I understand. I forgive you."

Calum gave Luke a 'are you stupid' look. "Are you fucking kidding me? I picked on you, I basically started a rumour that you self-harm!" By the end of Calum's rant he was shouting and this caused a few strangers in the car park to look at them, some giving disgusted looks for his foul language.

"Please Calum, I forgive you. Can we leave it as that?" Calum nodded and lowered his head in shame that he was so mean to such a sweet boy. He suddenly lifted his head again and his eyes lit up remembering that Luke hadn't seen his present yet.

"Open it! Open it!" Calum sounded like a little child at Christmas. Luke obeyed and his jaw dropped when he saw the stuffed toy in the bag, he pulled it out and saw that it was a little penguin.

"Oh my... how did you know...?... was it that obvious that they are my... oh my god, thank you Calum!" He pulled Calum into a hug, not even thinking twice, at first Calum tensed up and then relaxed into the hug and let out a small smile, barely even visible. But it was still there.

"Alright love-birds we need to get going!"

The two hugging boys quickly pulled away but stood next to each other- so that they were still discreetly touching- and we're both holding small blushes to their cheeks. They quickly said their goodbyes and walked their separate ways.

Luke, Ashton, Lucy and Naomi all bundled into the car and headed back to their houses, they spoke about what their friendship had been like and how it will be sad to no be able to talk or see each other for at least a year; Lucy decided that they needed to make new friends and not just rely on their old ones otherwise they will be really lonely as they are halfway across the world from Ashton and his friends.

They parked up at their houses and Ashton handed them the joint present that they got at the zoo.
"Just a reminder of our last day together and a reminder of England and us and just the good times!" Ashton explained.

"You know you sound ridiculous when you say 'a reminder of England' because of your stupid Australian accent." Lucy laughed whilst taking the stuffed lion, "see you guys in a year, make it one of the best years ever!" And with that they separated and didn't want to wait the year to see each other again. But there is nothing they can do to change that.
