Our story is cliché but it's ours - Mashton

Chapter 5

Michael felt strange. 

Not the horrible kind.

Not the nice kind either.

Michael was confused.

He didn't feel himself.

Yet, he's never felt more complete.

All he thinks about lately is the boy who spilt his drink of him. The boy who was friends with the shy boy, the boy who was friends with a girl with blue hair, the boy who was friends with two elder girls. The boy named Ashton.

Calum was now sick to death of hearing that boys name. Hearing about the massive but cute dimples that belong to Ashton, the boy who had light brown, or dark blonde hair. The boy with hazel eyes that light up when he sees something pretty.

Not that Michael had been stalking the boy since he first got him placed next to him in his English lesson. Definitely not. He was just observing a beautiful creature in its natural habitat.

Michael liked to quite Augustus Waters when it came to topics like this, which it rarely did. But still. Like Augustus said, beautiful things need observing. Ok Michael knows that it was probably more romantic that that, but Michael doesn't read. Give him credit for trying.

Because Calum was getting annoyed with Michael yapping on about Ashton and not doing anything about it, Calum took it upon himself to get closer to Ashton to see if Michael had a chance. That's why Calum paid people to find out Ashton's number, that is one of the privileges of being team captain on the rugby team, people are willing to do anything for you.

When Calum didn't get what he wanted, he decided it was easier for him just to ask Ashton himself, rather than looking like a crazy stalker. So that's what Calum did, Ashton was very shocked when he saw Calum appear from nowhere and ash for his number and what he was doing after school.

What do you say to that?

One of the most popular people in the school, let alone the year, asked your for your number and basically asked you to hang out with him after school. Well Ashton panicked and just said yes, made no movement to giving Calum his phone number. Well until Calum hummed, raised an eyebrow and put his empty hand out as an indicator that he wanted his phone.

Ashton scrambled to find his phone so he could hand it over to Calum. Finally he found it, Calum placed his number in and texted himself off the phone, no other words were communicated before Calum left and all Ashton got was 'meet me after school but the front gates, don't keep me waiting' and then the bell rang.

It was after school and Ashton had beaten Calum to the gates, this gave him time to tell his mum he will be back late, not like she would notice anyway because she doesn't finish work before 8 most nights.

Calum turned up looking bored,
"So glad to be out of this shit-hole soon, don't you agree?" Ashton was still shell-shocked that Calum was even talking to him to actually reply.

It turns out that Calum is actually a really nice, down-to-earth kind of guy, for their little, friend making session, Calum took them to the skate park and they just messed around, at one point a bunch of homophobic people came past and shouted "Faggots" and Calum got really pissed, not because they thought him and Ashton were a couple, but because they didn't keep their mouths shut when there was no reason for them to speak at all.

So Calum went home with a scratch in his arm from the guys nails, but the homophobic guy went home with a broken nose. And a lesson taught about voicing unnecessary opinions.

After that stupid selfies were taken and then Calum became close friends with Ashton. It would be inhuman if he didn't. Ashton just had that something about him that made him likeable, now Calum understood why Michael likes him so much.

When Ashton got home he saw a note on the table from his mum, and a £20 note as well, he assumed for pizza, but he will juts pocket it as he doesn't need more food, he's fat enough as it is. Ashton read the note, mouth gaping open when he got to the end.

Ashton. My son.

Your father has come back into the scene, maybe this will be for the best, maybe this means the police will finally be able to catch him. I'm not sure though.

Tonight I will not be back until about 3am, this is as I am getting more details about what happened that night with your father. If it all proves that he's innocent the  we can be a happy family again. If it proves that he's no innocent then he will be taken away from us for a while.

I have arranged to speak with him tonight, that's why I am out so late. Please don't hate me.

What was she thinking? He can't have his dad in the scene again, can he? Maybe he was over reacting. His parents did look happy together, why did he have to mess things up?

He decided not to dwell on it, otherwise it would ruin his perfectly good day, so he ordered a pizza, margarita as Lucy is veterinarian, just like Alice, and then Ashton invited Lucy around as well as Naomi. He needed distracting, and it was better than sitting alone, on the cold hard ground, watching Marley and Me; it's a good movie okay, especially when you're sad.

The girls came over, but sadly gave bad news. They were leaving, setting off for Thailand in 5 days, but this would be one of the last times they will see each other as they are spending the last few days with family. So they arranged to spend the whole of tomorrow together, the whole group, and with Lucy's permission- Calum was invited. Hopefully everything goes alright!!

Ashton hoped it would as he had forgotten what Calum said to Luke, and now without knowing it, Ashton could be loosing a really good friend.
