"They're said to live in the sea, far away from human civilization. They lure unfortunate sailors to their deaths, how they were recorded? It shall never be known. It's said their song is mesmerizing, deadly."

Annabeth threw her shoe at Percy. "Stop reading that siren book, it's filling your head with nonsense."

"HEY!" Percy ducked, letting the shoe fly past his head. "I happen to like the story."

"Do you believe it?"

"No."

Well believe it, bitch.

"Oh." Annabeth nodded, "I kinda believe it, but I don't think they're ugly creatures."

"Why?"

"I just don't." she shrugged, "Don't need more of an explanation."

"Alright..." he raised an eyebrow.

Annabeth grinned, "Come on." she grabbed hold of his arm and pulled him, causing him to drop the book.

"Hey-- wha--" he stumbled and fell to his feet, but Annabeth just continued to drag him. "Let me-- feet!" he yelled and she stopped.

"Slow poke."

"Not my fault I tripped!" he yelled, but he was already being pulled again. "Where are we even going?"

"Somewhere."

She wanted to visit home again. Just being next to it made her heart rate slow to a steady pace. A break from the stress, from the mission, from it all.

Annabeth stared at the ocean, a cool, gentle breeze settling in. The sound of the waves, the smell of the air... it was all so familiar, and she missed it so much.

"Annie?" Percy.

She turned her head, "Yes?"

"You alright?"

"No."

The two went silent, both of them looking out at the sea

The waves, the animals, the coral reef, Annabeth wished she had it all back. Maybe if she could see that servant boy one more time...

"A-Annabeth?" Percy's  voice broke through her thoughts. "What-- what's that?"

"What's what?" Annabeth followed his finger out to the open waters

"Something... s-something is out there."

She rolled her eyes, "Percy there's nothing--"

The sound of something smacking against the water filled the air, splashing water up into the sky.

Annabeth swallowed. They couldn't be out there... could they?

"IT'S A--" Annabeth covered his mouth.

The head poked out of the water, a shimmering blue tail trailing behind it as the creature swam.

"You idiot!" Annabeth let go of Percy before running out into the ocean, falling down into the waves to meet the creature.

She grabbed hold of it's tanned body, bringing it into a close hug, tangling her fingers in it's black hair.

"Why would you come so close to the shore?" she whispered hoarsely. "It's dangerous..."

"But I always came when you were up here." Perseus said softly, "Whenever you were out by the beach, I was here... you just didn't see me. Mistaken as a dolphin, no doubt."

"Why did you choose to say hi now? And when I have someone with me..."

"I wanted to meet the servant serving my princess, of course." Perseus muttered. "Looks a lot like me."
