"The Curse is an ancient being. She is the spawn of Lucifer, better known as Satan, the Fallen Angel. The Curse has not been seen for thousands of years, and she is the servant of her father. Whatever he wishes, she carries out. But, when Jesus died on the cross, the Curse was punished by her father for not... Well, defeating God. He cursed her. She no longer had enough power to reign over the world beside her father, but there was a way to undo the curse. She must find the one mortal with the purest heart and dip the tips of her wing feathers into their blood, burn their body and give their ashes to Satan as an offering. The Cu-"
"-is one messed up woman?"
"Quiet Simon- the Curse is a monster. She would gladly do whatever her father asked. And she has. She has kidnapped Jamie Duncan, a nurse. She believes that she is the mortal she needs. And so, I have been sent by... Someone.... To retrieve Dr. Duncan. And to destroy The Curse."Deirdre finished her tale. She looked at Simon's blank eyes. She smiled sadly. "You think I'm crazy."
"Yeah, I think you're crazy. But I also think your telling the truth." Deirdre raised her eyebrows, her mouth standing open a little.
"Wha-what did you say?" She asked quizzically. Simon smiled, and he reached over and took her hand. Deirdre flinched a little at this human affection, but looked him in the eyes.
"I've known you for a few days. And some crazy stuff has happened. I saw that demon, and it's obviously real. So I believe you. But yes, you're absolutely crazy to think you could do this alone." Deirdre felt herself begin to melt. This human, mortal boy had genuine care in his eyes. Yes, he was broken, but he was pure. "So," Simon continued, "I'm going on this mission with you. I'm gonna help you, Deirdre."The next day the pair had made it to the Virginia Tech campus. It was beautiful, with fields for agriculture surrounding the campus. A row of houses that led to the town sat on the west side of campus. Simon was being abnormally quiet, as if he were deep in thought. It was about 9 at night when Simon stopped outside a tall colonial style house with pretty white columns and ivy snaking up the side. Deirdre raised her eyebrows and looked at the boy. Simon didn't look at her but turned his head in her direction. "This is my best friends house." Deirdre looked puzzled.
"That's why you suggested to come here." Simon nodded, his slowly-getting-longer brown hair falling over his left eyebrow. "His name is Alastor. He lives here with his mother and father. The reason I've brought us here is, well, Alastor's father is very religious. He loves the Bible, and he truly believes in angels and demons and all that stuff. If anyone can be trusted, and can help us, he can." Deirdre smiled inwardly. Maybe Simon really was meant to be with her.
The two teens walked up the steps of the house. Simon raised a fist and knocked on the large, wooden door. The door creaked open, revealing the person behind it. The woman standing there was middle aged, maybe around 45-ish. She had long black hair pulled back in a ponytail, and her eyes were bright brown, and her face creased with laugh lines. She smiled brightly. "Oh, Simon, dear! Welcome back!" She reached out and hugged Simon, and he hugged her back.
"It's great to see you too, Nora." Nora smiled and release Simon. She smiled. "Well, come in, come in!" She led the two inside to a kitchen. At the oven cooking was a talk, blonde man, with unruly hair and square glasses. He was about 50-ish, a few years older than Nora. At the counter sat a young man, about 16, with curly white blonde hair that had one bubblegum pink streak. He looked up as his mother entered the room, his sea-green eyes lighting up. "Si!" He exclaimed, dropping his pencil and standing up, rushing to meet his friend. Simon and Alastor shared a weird man-hug frat-boy thing, and stood there smiling. Alastor brushed a piece of hair out of his eyes. "Well, Si, what're ya doing here?" Deirdre found herself awkwardly swaying to the beat of the Aerosmith song playing on the portable radio. Simon smiled.
"Well, Al, that's why I've brought her." He pointed to Deirdre, who smiled and waved nicely to the family. The man turned around and waved his barbecue throngs at her. Nora smiled and stepped forward. Simon looked at his friend's family. "White family, this is Deirdre. Deirdre, this is the White family." Deirdre smiled.
"Wonderful to meet you, Alastor, Mr. And Mrs. White!" The man laughed, waving a fork. "Call us Nora and Jeremiah, Deirdre." Deirdre smiled.
Alastor looked at Simon. "So, why are y'all here?" Simon and Deirdre shared a glance. "Well," said Simon. "You guys better sit down."
