Now onto the story!
"Dammit!" John muttered as he entered the staircase. His cheeks were emitting heat and didn't show any signs of stopping. Lifting his hands up, he cupped his burning face.
He started up the stairs, the sopping clothing irritating his skin. Why did he have to say those things? Why can't I have a normal flat-mate that doesn't try to deduce every little thing? John thought to himself, his feet hitting the steps harder with each thought until he was stomping like a four year old that didn't get what they wanted.
When he got to his room, John quickly changed out of his damp clothes and into a warm, red sweater and a worn pair of jeans, taking care to place his damp clothes in the hamper. The short man looked at his reflection in the full length mirror on his wall.
His face wasn't as red as before although he was still thoroughly embarrassed. He couldn't have known why I was distracted... right? John questioned himself, afraid that he was wrong.
***AN HOUR BEFORE***
"Where would you like to go?" John's date turned to him, contemplating what he said. She was a beautiful lady, her curly, dark hair fell past her shoulders and although she wasn't remarkably skinny, her cheekbones were very prominent. The woman also used makeup to accentuate her features and wore a black skirt that went past her knees and a blue blouse.
"I'm not sure." Her voice stopped John from admiring her attire. "Why don't we just look around?" She suggested with a smile.
The two walked around the mall, stopping every once and a while to explore a store that looked interesting, but for the most part they walked aimlessly talking about their selves.
"Do you play any instruments?" John turned towards his date. She gave a quick nod. "Really?" John asked, "What do you play?"
"I've played the violin since I was 12." She answered proudly.
She plays the violin, just like Sherlock! John was shocked that his first thought jumped to the detective but he ignored it and attempted to shake his thoughts of Sherlock away. He didn't want to think about his partner in the middle of a date. Especially a date that was going as nicely as this one.
His date was continuing to talk about her experiences with the violin, but all John could think about now was Sherlock. He tuned her out involuntarily and looked her over, up and down. Holy shit, she looks like Sherlock! She has the hair and the cheekbones and---
All of a sudden John's foot hit something solid and he lost his balance. The koi fish swimming around in the fountain that he hit his foot on, darted away just in time as the short brunette fell forward into the water.
Luckily he caught himself with his hands so he didn't suffer any head injuries, but his pride was damaged beyond repair. Bystanders all around were chuckling and pointing and his date stood to the side looking embarrassed.
John pushed himself out of the fountain, thanked his date for joining him and then left in a hurry, laughter from all around directed at him. His face was bright red as he hailed a cab and told the cabbie his address.
**Flashback End**
Dammit Sherlock, why can't I get you out of my head? John thought as he moved to his bed and sat on the edge of it. He held his head in his hands and tried to relax.
Suddenly there was a loud gunshot coming from a floor below. "John! Sherlock's bored again!" Mrs. Hudson's distressed voice yelled from the bottom level of the house.
John stood up quickly and began heading to the door. That was his cue.
