Meredith's P.O.V.

My shift ended late. Derek left early, he had the kids. He was still in rough shape after the crash, but he was pulling through quickly. I texted him I was going over to Alex's.
I pulled up to his house with a bottle of tequila. The door was unlocked and I let myself in. "Alex!" I yelled. No answer. "Where are you?" Still, silent. I ran up the stairs. "Alex!" I yelled again. I started to bust open doors. When I got to his room, he was unconscious on the floor. I ran towards his body. I first checked for a pulse. It was faint, but it was there. I heard him say. "Mer. " I reached out for my phone to call 911. I looked back up at Alex. "You are going to be okay." I was fighting away the tears. I almost lost Derek, I refuse to lose Alex. In ten minutes, the paramedics arrived, they recognized me immediately. They were shocked at Alex's condition. There was this young female paramedic. While we loaded him up in the ambulance she mumbled. "I just saw him earlier today saving a little boy." When we arrived to the hospital, Pierce was there next to Kepner. As soon as they saw who it was, their jaws dropped. "Nothing ever happens to Alex!" April yelled. Pierce rolled him into the trauma center. Doctors started to see Alex and soon started to crowd the room. I could see Pierce was getting stressed because of the commotion. I wanted my friend saved so I decided to do something. I stood up and said. "I would think all of you would understand, but I guess not. This doctor is trying to save this other doctor's life. I bet she could be much more successful if all of you were doing your jobs saving other people who need them!" They quickly scrambled out of the room. I soon sat down afterwards. She looked at me and mouthed a "thank you" I rolled my eyes and walked out to the waiting area. I got a cup of coffee and texted Derek where I was. He told me to update him on Alex as soon as I could. I looked around the hospital. Even though I am reminded of this often. This is the patient's P.O.V. of this place. It really does suck terribly. I held on to my coffee cup with a firm grip and I saw Pierce walking up to me. "He is conscious. I am running more tests to see what the hell is going on. You can go see him if you want." I started to get up and walk towards Alex's direction. I heard her say something again. "What Pierce?" I mumbled. "I just wanted to say thank you for sticking up for me back there.
I would call it sticking up, I just wanted her pto get her job done. I turned towards her. "No problem." I started to turn away again. "Grey!" She yelled. I knew I was not going to leave her sight. "Yes?" I said. She looked desperate. "Could we just please, hang out or something?" I sighed. This was not going to end. "Meet me at Joe's when your shift is over." She quickly turned away and went the other direction. I knew she was not going to give up. I still needed to get to Alex. This was much harder than I thought. As soon as I got into his room, I gasped for air. It was so hard to see him like that. I took his chart to see what was going on. It showed that he had hypotension(I did a little research!). Which is sometimes a big sign for diabetes.
I looked more at his chart. Pierce is running tests to see what the hell is going on. Her work, was flawless. She is an amazing doctor. Much like my mother, well our mother. Pierce walked into the room. "Oh, I will come back later." She said quietly and started to turn around.  She was almost out of the room before I chirped up.
"I am his medical contact. Could you tell me what you found?" She started to turn towards my direction. She seemed like she was not happy about the news. She exhaled deeply before she started to talk. "Alex is a diabetic. " I knew it. We both looked at his unconscious body. All of the sudden, Jo came bursting through the room like an animal.
She looked like a nervous wreck. I was as well when Derek was in that car crash. I understood what she was going through. I looked up at Pierce to assure her that I could handle this. She walked out of the room and I set Jo down.
"Alex is alright for now. I found him unconscious in his house. I rushed him to the hospital. He is in good hands."
She had tears running down her eyes and she hugged me. She had a firm grip on me and would not let go. This was getting really awkward for me.
She finally let go and thanked me again. I walked out of the room to let her get some time alone with him. I looked at the time. Damn. It was around two in the morning. I had work tomorrow. I texted Derek and said I was going to stay at the hospital for the night.
I found some of my extra scrubs and went into the on-call room and soon fell asleep.

The Next Day

It was about five when I woke up. I was still exhausted from last night. I went to go put on my sneakers and my lab coat. My pager(Yes I am still using those. I am stuck in the old seasons. XD) soon went off. I sighed at the noise and saw it was for Alex.  My eyes widened and I quickly busted out of the room.
I got to his room in seconds. Pierce and Jo was in there. Jo looked like she never left and Pierce looked upset. "What is wrong?" I asked. Jo started to sob. "Alex still has not woken up." Pierce said. "There has to be something we can do. Plus it has not even been that long. Alex is lazy enough anyways. It is probably nothing. So Jo get back to work and quit crying." I said. Jo kept sniffling and Pierce's expression still did not change.
I walked out of the room and Pierce followed me. After I heard her footsteps I turned around. "What is the problem?" I asked. "Doctor Grey-" She started. "You need to prepare yourself. " I do not think she gets it. I am never prepared for anything, doubt that I ever will be. "No, you are going to fix him and everything will be back to normal." I stated and walked away. I started to walk faster and faster then it became a run. I ran to the closest supply closet and locked the door. Tears started to rush down my face. I felt completely helpless. My pager went off. It was one of the kids with a transplant I had to check on. That made me realize I had a job to get done. I stood up, got myself together, and went to the pediatrics ward.
