Dahlia quickly went to run the water. She grabbed her cellphone to let her mom ,who was at work, know that she was going to go out.
"Hey mom, is it okay if I go out with Emmy tonight?" She asked unsure if she was going to let her go.
"It's about damn time!! God I thought I was going to have to hire someone to help me drag you out of that forsaken room! You haven't left the house since you got out of school! I love you and all but having you around the house all the time can get real old and real annoying real fast", her mother exclaimed which only filled Dahlia with exasperation. Her mom makes it sound as if she has no life.
"Gee, thanks mom for your loving words"
Her mom chuckles, enjoying the sound of her daughters irritated reaction," You know I love you Dal but you needed to get out of that room and detach your eyes from all those books... so where are you and Emmy headin' out to?"
Dahlia rolls her eyes from her mother's comments," I don't know. You know since I haven't talked to Emmy for so long she was a little mad at me for ignoring her so I told her we could do whatever she wanted to do and you know based off Emmy that it's going to be a long night. I'll text you when I find out where she's dragging me okay?"
Dahlia's mom stays quiet for a minute on the line but finally responds after a bit," Alright honey, just because I want you to have some fun since you have spent it locked up in your room and your sophomore year is around the corner. But! I want you back home before midnight missy. The spare key will be under the doormat. Have fun! And no alcohol!"
"Mom you know I hate the smell of alcohol so there is no need to worry. You know how I get head aches just by the smell." Dahlia say with distaste in her tone.
Her mom chuckles, "I know but I might as well remind you either way have fun!" Dahlia was going to say goodbye but her mom had already hung up the phone leaving her slightly irritated. Yet, her thoughts where cut short when she remembered she had to take a shower and quick since she only had fifteen minutes left before Emmy came barging in.
Dahlia dashed to the bathroom for she knew that Emmy would yell at her if she was still in the shower by the time she got there. Dahlia quickly scrubbed down her 5'3 tall body and thoroughly washed her dark brown hair. After drying herself off she put on a robe covering her undergarments on and went to the kitchen for some water.
Just as she looked at her phone to check the time and saw it was 2:30, her best friend barges in without warning. Dahlia jumped in surprise and dropped her phone. Thank god she had the new IPhone with the protective case.
"Lord Jesus child! I swear next time I might throw my cup at you! I thought you where a stranger breaking into my house! Next time give a girl a knock before you just barge in like that!" Dahlia says as she picks up her phone still shaking from the scare.
Emmy knew where the spare key was since she would sometimes have to drag Dahlia out of her bed in the mornings for school whenever she would sleep late from studying. She had forgotten though how her best friend would just walk in since she was like family.
"Damn, girl relax. Why you always gotta be so uptight and on edge?" Emmy laughs as her best friend throws some grapes from the fridge at her.
"Next time knock before I get a heart attack," they both continue to Banter as they walk up to Dahlia's room.
Dahlia eyes the zipped up bags as she sits down on her bed.
"Where exactly are we going since you have two dresses?" Dahlia asks wearily.
Emmy eyes flicker with mischief and she grins widely with her new white hook looking piercing punctured in the side of her lower lip. She always wanted a piercing but decided against the pain and swelling it came with it.
