Dahlia and Emmy arrived at the party close to 6:30 which was just in time since they where still serving food. Since Dahlia is mexican her taste in food had always been more favoring of Mexican food. Dahlia had every feature of a mexican but since she had lived in the United States longer she had a more American accent to her spanish.
Emmy on the other hand was half venezuelan but had more features of her father which was Irish. She got her pale skin and green eyes from her father and her honeycomb hair and curvy body from her mother.
As they got their food, they looked around to find a table. They soon where waved over to a table where some our friends sat.
"Wow! Look at you Dahlia! You look like you should be in the cover of vogue!"yelled one of Dahlia's friends Nelly.
"And as for you Em, you look absolutely gorgeous!" Nelly complemented with a warm smile. Nelly stood up to get them both a hug. Nelly looked amazing with her newly dyed hair. It flowed freely in burgundy waves down to her lower back. It gave her a edgy type of look in her short royal blue strapless dress that stopped at her knees with strappy silver heels and silver makeup that enhanced the hazel color of her eyes as well. She really was a sight.
They joined Nelly's group and chatted away as they awaited the Quincenera's arrival.
"Do you think that you will find prince charming tonight?" Nelly asked Dahlia playfully.
"I doubt it", Dahlia responded with a laugh. Nelly smirked with mischief at Dahlia.
"What?" Dahlia asked.
"What about him?" Nelly suggested with a serious tone.
Dahlia turned around to see where Nelly was pointing at and found herself starring at a tall handsome guy wearing a tejana negra dressed in a style of ranchero (cowboy). He briefly took of his Tejana and displayed his long slicked back hair.
Dahlia was unable to pull her gaze away from him. He was mesmerizing. She felt her stomach flutter and she felt her blush crawl it's way on her cheeks.
Dahlia let her eyes wonder to his rich full lips and ended looking straight at light brown eyes. She quickly averted her eyes away and turned back around.
The handsome tall guy put his tejana back on and continued to walk sit with the friends he came with when he stopped half way when he saw some familiar faces.
Dahlia could hear him walk towards her table as she heard the click of his boots as he made his way closer to her. She froze and looked down trying relentlessly to hide.
"Hey Nelly," the handsome guy said as he stood behind Dahlia.
Dahlia could feel his presence behind her but refused to turn around.
Nelly spoke up," How you been Shaun? Long time no talk. It seems as if you have completely forgotten about your little cousin"
Dahlia was caught of guard by the fact that they were cousins. Dahlia felt the guy move somewhere else and he came into view when he went to give Nelly a hug.
"How could I ever forget my favorite yet most annoying little cousin?" Shaun taunted playfully.
Nelly hugged him back tightly and winked at Dahlia. "So, Shaun, I'd like you to meet a friend of mine," she said in a suggestive tone which only made Dahlia blush even more.
"Curse you Nelly!" Dahlia though to her self.
"Hey there princess", Shaun said delighted to have a full view of the girl that had caught his eye. Yet, he didn't understand why she was avoiding his gaze.
