"WHERE IS HE?! HES LATE!!" I heard the distinct voice of my brother as he yelled at the top of his lungs.
"Calm down, Naruto," Sakura sighed and dropped her bag to the forest floor.
"Good morning, everyone!" Kakashi waved cheerfully as we made ourselves known to the kids.
"YOUR LATE!!" Both Naruto and Sakura screamed, glaring at us.
"Sorry. We got lost on the path of life." Kakashi grinned beneath his mask. "Anyway," the silver haired man moved over to one of the poles and pulled an alarm clock from who knows where. "The time is set for noon. Your task, is to take these bells from us." Kakashi handed me a bell, which I magically attatched to my right hip, at the edge of the obi.
***********
"You may use any weapon, including shuriken." I brushed my bangs from my eyes and placed my right hand on my hip, beside the bell.
"B-But, Sensei! Those are dangerous!" Sakura cried, her emerald eyes widening in disbelief.
"Ah Ah, Sakura," Kakashi chided her, a disapproving look in his eye.
"Sakura, you will come at us with the intent to kill. If not, I don't see much of a future for you as a Shinobi." I could feel Kakashi's gaze on me, a small smile laying beneath his mask. The pink haired girl gasped. "This is a make it or break it test."
Naruto stared at me with wide eyes, but then he grinned, realizing that even though I'm his older sister, I won't go easy on him.
"Let's do this!" He fist bumped, his grin widening.
Kakashi said something, that I didn't catch, my eyes set on Sasuke. He was carefully studying me, as I was just watching him.
"Go!" I jumped when all three kids disappeared, leaving only Kakashi and myself in the clearing. "At least they know how to conceal they know how to conceal their presence." Kakashi murmured, his hands stuffed inside his pockets.
"Well-" I turned to face where I felt the kids' chakra, only to come face to face with a... person?
"Hokage-sama has summoned you, Ayumi." The Anbu officer stated, his voice completely devoid of emotion.I narrowed my eyes, but nodded. "I understand." My gaze drifted to Kakashi as I untied the bell from my obi and handed it to him. He shot me a look that told me we would be talking later, right before I turned to the Anbu officer and nodded.
Moving to stand beside him, he made the hand-sign and the training area disappeared, only to be replaced with the hallway just outside the Hokage's office. I knocked on the door, then slipped inside, not bothering to wait for an answer.
Hokage-sama was sitting on the couch, looking completely at peace. "You wanted to see me?" My voice was soft, like it was trying to keep the calm.
"Yes." He replied, gesturing for me to sit across from him, on the other couch. Dropping into the plush seat, I crossed my legs at the knee. "I have some good news, and what you would consider bad news." I cocked an eyebrow as Hokage-sama sighed, running a hand down his tired face.
"The good news?" I inquired, my eyes narrowed with curiosity.
"I have a mission for you, one that is perfect in your level of expertise." He continued, his eyes gleaming with an emotion I could only match to humor, which un-nerved me. "However, since this mission is an A-Rank, and you're a little out of practice, I'm sending Kakashi with you, for your protection, seeing as it has been awhile."
I couldn't help but stare in shock, my jaw nearly dropping. "But-"
"I won't allow any room for argument, young lady." He shot me a glare. "He knows you best, and therefore is the best candidate to keep an eye on you."
"Yes. sir," I answered through clenched teeth.
"The mission will take about a week, if my sources are correct. You will be traveling to the Land of Snow to guide a caravan, holding one of their noblemen. He needs to travel from the Land of Snow, to the Land of Rice Patties. You leave tonight." Hokage-sama grinned, his hand reaching for his hat. "By the way, the "Young Lord", as he likes to call himself, thinks he's quite the catch. You may want to be careful."
With those last words, Hokage-sama stood and left the room.
What.
The.
Hell.
***************************
"A mission?!" I sighed as I carefully packed my bag, filling it mostly with weapons, and maybe.. two or three extra pairs of clothes? "But, one-chan, you haven't even trained in.. how long?!"
"Just because you haven't seen me train, doesn't mean I haven't." He has a point though. I may have kept up my body strength, and a few of my skills, but in reality, I haven't actually used a kunai in years.
"I just don't see you fighting, after all the times you've made me call peace!" Naruto flopped back on my bed and spread his arms wide.
"Honey, I used to be an Anbu, before I retired." Naruto's eyes snapped open from their closed position. "I remember, they used to call me some weird name." I shrugged and closed my bag, making sure that it zipped up.
"What was it?" Naruto sat up on my bed and was staring at me with his big blue eyes.
A smirk spread across my face. "Don't know, can't remember," I said as I grabbed my weapons pouch and strapped it around my waist. My little brother groaned, and rolled his eyes. "Alright, I'm all packed. I need to go." I leaned down and kissed Naruto's forehead. "Be good, and don't trash the house."
"Yeah Yeah!"
"Bye, Naruto." With that said, my hands formed a hand-sign, and the next moment, I was at the front gate where a certain silver haired man waited for me. "Let's go."
