The estate was unusually quiet.
Xiao Zhan stood on the balcony of the highest tower, the wind howling like a ghost around him. His phone screen still showed the image—Yibo, bruised and on his knees.
Every second without him felt like a knife twisting deeper.
Zhan hadn’t spoken in hours. Not since the message arrived. He hadn’t eaten. Barely blinked. His silence wasn’t calm.
It was rage waiting to explode.
Luo Yan entered the room, quietly placing a steaming cup of black coffee on the table beside him. “He’s strong. They won’t break him easily.”
Zhan didn’t respond.
“I’ve gathered the team. If you say the word…”
Zhan turned.
His voice was low. Cold.
“Mobilize everyone. Burn the forest down if you have to.”

Scene 2: The Enemy Within
Location: Black Lotus Compound, Interrogation Room
Wang Yibo sat still, head lowered, dried blood on his lip. His arms were tied behind the steel chair. A dim bulb swung overhead, casting shadows across the room like claws.
Lady Rui circled him like a vulture.
“I admired your dedication,” she purred. “I even considered making you one of us. But then... I found your real name.”
Yibo looked up slowly.
“Oh yes, Wang Yibo,” she smiled. “Lover of Xiao Zhan. His little secret. Did you think you could fool me?”
Yibo smirked, spitting blood onto the ground. “I didn’t think. I knew.”
Lady Rui’s eyes narrowed.
“You’re bold. Just like your mother.”
Yibo’s blood turned to ice.
“What did you say?”
Lady Rui leaned closer. “Oh? Didn’t Zhan tell you? Your mother was part of Black Lotus once. She betrayed us for love. We made sure she paid for it.”
Yibo’s body shook—not from fear, but fury.
His mother…
“You’re lying.”
“I never lie,” Rui said softly. “Just like Xiao Zhan will never tell you the truth. You think he’s noble? No. He’s one of us. Worse, even. He made deals with us before. Killed for us.”
Yibo’s head spun.
Had Zhan hidden that? Lied to protect him?
The door creaked open suddenly. A masked guard stepped in, whispering something into Rui’s ear.
She smiled wickedly.
“Well. Seems your knight is coming after all.”

Scene 3: The King Returns
Location: Forest Outside Black Lotus Base
Xiao Zhan stood in the dark, surrounded by his best assassins.
Luo Yan handed him the latest intel. “They’ve moved him. East wing of the compound. Guarded heavily.”
Zhan nodded, tightening the gloves on his hands.
