The air was different today. Thick. As if the city itself was holding its breath.
Xiao Zhan stood in front of the large screens in the mafia control room. His eyes scanned a red-alert notification flashing across the top:
"Liu Ren released. Last seen near Hongming district. Untraceable since."
A long silence.
Wang Yibo stepped beside him, dressed in full black with his Sean Mafia coat. “Is that the man you once trusted?”
Zhan didn’t answer immediately.
“…He was my right hand,” he said finally. “He knew everything. My codes, my routes, my rules.”
“And he betrayed you?”
“He tried to kill me.”
Yibo’s eyes hardened. “Then let me find him.”
Zhan looked at him, face unreadable. “If you do… don’t show mercy.”

The First Move
Liu Ren didn’t wait long to strike.
That evening, an explosion tore through one of Zhan’s warehouses. The blaze turned the sky red, and three trusted men didn’t make it out.
Zhan arrived at the scene within minutes, Yibo at his side.
“It was timed perfectly,” one of the mafia guards reported. “No signature, no trace… except this.”
He handed Zhan a bullet casing etched with the Sean Mafia crest—crossed out.
A message: “You’re no longer king.”
Zhan’s jaw clenched.
But Yibo took it, fingers brushing over the scratched symbol. “He’s not just attacking you. He’s challenging your rule.”
“And he’ll regret it.”

Yibo’s Secret Step
Later that night, Zhan was in a strategy meeting with his core team. Yibo, instead of staying, slipped away. He returned to the warehouse ruins, now just smoke and ash.
There, waiting in the shadows, stood someone in a hoodie.
“You’re late,” the stranger said.
Yibo pulled out a sealed envelope. “Intel from the inside. Locations of Zhan’s hidden weapons caches. He’ll change them soon, but for now—they’re real.”
The stranger nodded. “You’re sure you want to do this?”
Yibo’s voice was tight. “I’m not helping Liu Ren. I’m baiting him.”
The man hesitated. “If Zhan finds out you’re playing both sides—”
“I’ll handle it.”

Zhan’s Nightfall
Back in the mansion, Xiao Zhan stared out the window, expression cold—but inside, he felt the tension.
Yibo was different lately. Distracted. Distant.
He could sense it.
As if the boy he’d tamed was turning into a storm of his own.
“Don’t lie to me, Yibo,” Zhan muttered to the silence. “Because if you do… I won’t forgive you.”
And yet—he still hoped.
