Alaniela's POV
Minneapolis, Minnesota
7:15 PM
You were courtside in a fresh pair of Dunks and Ant's jersey, cheering like always, heart full of pride watching your man go off for the Timberwolves. Twenty-seven points.
Two dunks that made the crowd roar. And every time he scored, he looked right at you.
Like always.
Like you were home.
But during the 2nd quarter, a woman walked in like she owned the damn arena — long weave, full beat, strutting in heels like it was a fashion show instead of a basketball game.
You barely noticed her at first... until she sat three seats down.
Until she started loudly saying things.
"I was just with him last month, girl."
"I got screenshots if you need 'em."
"He texted me after his last game in Memphis. Said he missed me."
Your heart dropped.
You turned slowly, eyes locking with hers. She smirked like she already knew she won.
Then she pulled out her phone.
And showed you a screenshot.
Anthony. Your Anthony. His name in her phone. Messages that looked real. Too real.
"Come thru." "Miss how you taste."
A half-naked pic that made your stomach twist.
You didn't yell. You didn't cry. Not in front of all these people.
You just stood up, quietly grabbed your bag, and walked out.
He didn't even see you leave.
⸻
You were curled up on your couch, hoodie pulled over your head, wiping silent tears while your phone buzzed over and over.
A❤️: "Baby, where you at??"
A❤️: "Shawty, call me. Ion know what's goin' on but I know you mad."
A: "Don't believe nun you seen. I swear to goodness, Alani. Say sum'n."
Your phone lit up with his name again: "A❤️"
You didn't answer.
Then headlights cut across your window.
Then a knock.
Then another.
"Alaniela, baby... open this door. Please."
You froze.
His voice broke right through your chest.
"Ion care if you yell at me, throw somethin', cry — I ain't leavin' till you hear me out. I mean that shit."
You walked to the door, arms folded, heart still shattered.
When you opened it, he looked like hell — hoodie thrown over his head, eyes red, jaw clenched.
"Who the hell was she?" you asked, voice soft but sharp.
He stepped forward, desperate. "She my ex, yeah. But that whole thing? It's fake, Alani. Deadass. She bitter I moved on. She made a burner number, edited texts, cropped screenshots. I don't even got her saved in my phone no more."
You stared at him, lips trembling.
"You think I'd risk losin' you over some weak shit like that? You think I'm that stupid?"
You looked down. "I don't know what to think, Ant. That shit looked real. I felt stupid just sittin' there."
"You ain't stupid. She just messy." He stepped closer, grabbing your hand. "I know you mad, but please don't shut me out. You the only one who got me actin' right. I don't even wanna breathe if it ain't wit' you."
You pulled your hand back. "How do I know this won't happen again?"
His jaw flexed. "'Cause if it do? You got every right to leave me. But it won't. Not now, not ever. I'm locked in on you, girl. Ain't no benchwarmers in my life. You the whole team."
You cracked a smile, barely.
Then the tears came again.
You let him in.
"okay boy but I promise if I see her again it's up." I said wiping my tears
"ion care shawty do whats you gotta do shit i'a jump her right witchu!"
you knew he was your person.
