A Family Reunion

"WHOA!" Basil exclaimed as she stepped in front of me. Garroth stopped his sword, inches away from her face.

"Basil!! Let me end him, he was the one who cursed this village!" Garroth growled.

She turned around and gave me a 'we will talk about this later' look. She then took a deep breath,

"Garroth....Zane would like to live in Phoenix Drop," she said slowly.

Garroth roared with laughter, and Basil narrowed her eyes.

"I'm not joking, Garroth," she spat out his name, her voice coated with anger.

Garroth took notice and he eyed me suspiciously,

"How are you going to make me believe you," there was a pause, "and the whole village,"

I thought quickly, "I had a fight with father..." I said 'father' with anger boiling in my throat.

"He had 'plans' and...he did some things with mother," Garroth's eyes widened.

"Mother? Isn't she dead?"

I scowled, "He lied, everything he said, lies," he took a step back, and anger filled his eyes. Basil looked at both of us, and spoke up,

"Um...so...is that a yes?" she squeaked.

Garroth hesitated, he was staring at me with his sky blue eyes.

"I still don't trust you....but you can stay.." my eyes lit up,

"Are you sure?"

"On one condition,"

"Of course there's a catch," I rolled my eyes.

"You have to be under my surveillance," I gaped,

"Are you serious?"

He frowned, "You wanted to be trusted by this village, you have to earn our trust,"

I looked over at Basil,

"How did she earn your trust?"

She sighed while shaking her head,

"Same way...worst week of my life," she rolled her eyes at Garroth, who frowned at her.

"So, are you going to accept my offer or not?"

I sighed,

'There's no turning back now, if you say yes, your going to be living a life of danger,'

"Yes," I said, confidently, my heart pumping.

He nodded, "Good, now come" he said walking away.

I looked over at Basil and she gestured toward Garroth.

I rushed over to him, "Where are we going?"

He scowled, "I'm taking you to Alexis,"

I could feel a pang of guilt in my chest.

"Oh...uh--"

"Do you know how to help her?" he asked, looking over at me. I could see hope in his eyes as he put his helm back on, and I sighed,

"I don't know.." I said looking down at my feet, "a magik user just gave it to me...and told me what to do," as soon as he heard that news, he stopped right in front of what I assume is Aphmau's house.

He took a deep breath and glanced back at me,

"At least see what you did to her," hatred in his voice.

He opened the door and I followed him into the basement of the house. He pointed to a door in the corner,

"In there," I walked up in front of the door and looked back at him. He was still standing at the base of the stairs.

"Are you going baby-sit me or what?" I teased.

"You go," silence...."alone," he finally said.

I sighed and went into the room, closing the door behind me. I saw a girl with a simple light blue dress and pale blonde hair. 

I looked at her, peacefully sleeping. I was about to sit on the foot of the bed until she opened her eyes, widened with fear as she screamed,

"MONSTER!"
