"Can you possibly lend me a cigarette?" He asked as he shuffled his feet and placed one of his hands in the pocket of his dark blue jeans. "What, are you going to give it me back when you're done?" She asked with a smirk plastered on her slim face. A smile grew across his face as a thought of a response. "Lend was a bad choice of word, can you spare one?" He replied. Alaska took out the cigarette packet once again from her pocket and handed the boy one. He placed the stick of white and orange into his mouth. He put forward a hand, "I'm Augustus Waters". Nice name, unusual Alaska thought to herself a small smile creeping across her face. "Alaska Young" she replied and took his hand and shook it loosely. Augustus smirked at tue smile shown on Alaska's face.

"Do you need a light?" The young girl asked getting her bright red lighter out of her pocket and herself lighting up another cigarette as whilst they were talking she had finished the one she was smoking. "No, I'm good I don't light then!" He exclaimed as he removed the cigarette out of his mouth so he could speak properly. Alaska looked confused so he decided to explain himself, "you see its a metaphor, I put the killing thing between my teeth but never give it the power to do the killing?" He explained to the mysterious girl.
