We all know the stories about the prince who took the beautiful girl to the ball. Well I felt like I was living that fairytale on my prom night. The only thing that wasn't the same was that my prince wasn't just Prince Charming, he was the badass prince. And I was proud to be his date and girlfriend.
Patrick took me from home and of course my mum couldn't resist to take billions of pictures of us, standing in any sort of poses.
After the long photo session we were finally free to go to our prom. All girls were dressed up for the red carpet while the boys looked stunning but not as much as Patrick. At least in my eyes. I spotted Daniel with some other girl from the cheerleading team but it didn't bother me at all. I greeted him with a simple nod and no expression on my face before looking up at Patrick who was standing next to me.
Everything was going great until they decided to play slow music and of course Patrick dragged me on the dance floor.
"You look amazing tonight, had I told you that?" He asked as he pecked my hand that was in his own.
"Yes, plenty of times." I bit my lip fighting back a smile.
"You'll never learn, won't you?" He chuckled out as he pulled my lip from between my teeth with a thumb and leaned down at me for a kiss. His hand moved from my face down my waist and locked it with his other hand pressing me close to him. By instinct I wrapped my arms behind his neck to deepen the kiss. Happiness. This is the perfect word that would describe everything I feel when he's around me.
When we parted our lips I looked away as a sudden sad feeling took over me.
"What is it, love?" He asked with a concern in his voice. His Australian accent was sending chills all over my body.
"It's nothing" I answered with a fake smile, which he recognized.
"Emma, I know you. You act cool on the outside but something is eating you on inside." He lifted my chin with his index finger, so I could look him in the eyes.
"It's just..." I took a deep breath, feeling a huge ball forming in my throat. "It's just when it comes to you, there is nothing I can do... to fight back the feelings for you... but I simply can't take a slow goodbye with you."
"What do you mean? Why would we say goodbye when everything is perfect between us and..." But I cut him before I could hear more of how happy we are.
"I got accepted in University of Florida..." Letting the words escape fast from my mouth we both stopped dancing and froze on our spot. "I'm sorry Patrick..."
He swallowed and cupped my face with his hands.
"Hey, girlie, we will figure something out."
I shook my head and pulled away. I never believed that long distance relationships worked out fine. I knew that at first he would come to visit me and stuff but with the time his visits will fade.
"Emma look at me, come on love, look at me." I did as he said and he gave me his amazing smile with all the dimples I love. I hugged him tight, brushing my face in his chest. I was having hard time fighting back the tears.
My brother soon came and started telling us how Bianca punched Joey in the face. He was so excited that I finally managed to laugh at it.
Me and Patrick didn't bring back the subject again, since we both wanted to enjoy the rest of the night and create amazing memories. Not to mention the amazing memories we created when we got back home, in my room. I didn't regret doing it after I woke up next to him, not one bit. I was glad that I gave all of me to him.
We had whole summer ahead of us now, until I move out to Florida, so let's make it worth remembering.
