Hoff

Father always said the Hoffs were people who could get things done. They were sturdy people. People with connections in the least likely of places and with connections like theirs... nearly anything was possible. Being in that circle made a statement. Sure, there were people who would look down on you for being in connection with them, but when it mattered, when you had nothing left... they'd have your back, as long as you have theirs.
I was young, naive, and didn't really think about these words much. It was easy now to see what he meant. The lengths they will go to, the things they will do....

It was four months after I'd given birth and I had started going to the Gym with Sonja, she'd been coming to this Gym for years and knew the owner. I made little jokes about her having a thing for him, she insisted she didn't but I couldn't help but notice the little looks she'd give him.
I wanted to get into shape.... And a bit more. Sonja dipped early and I approached her 'totally not interested' eye candy of a Gym owner.

"Hi." I greeted. "Great Gym." I said, feeling super nervous.

"Hi, thanks. You're Sonja's friend, right?" He asked, leaning on the counter.

"Yeah. Um... so I saw the notice board when we came in and it says you teach self defense here, right?" I asked.

"Yeah, why? Are you interested in signing up?" He replied with a question of his own.

"If it's not too much, then yeah.... Yeah I think I want to sign up but... are the classes more than just once a week?" I asked.

"Hm... well, you're Sonja's friend so how about this. One flat rate, 3 days a week good? Or you want more?" He asked.

"Can you do it 4 days a week?" I asked.

"You drive a hard bargain, but sure. You got it." He replied with a smile.

"Thanks, so much, really." I responded, happy that I could make this arrangement.

"Just come by next monday. We'll start then. Okay?" He asked. I nodded and headed home. I couldn't wait till monday. I wondered on the way home if I should tell Jungkook, I wanted to... but I didn't want him to worry or anything. He knew I wanted to start going to the Gym with Sonja, and he knew that's where I was.... Maybe I should just tell him I'm increasing my time at the gym and that's it. I wouldn't be lying, but I wouldn't worry him with the details of why I'm going to be going more often.

"Look, mommy's home." I heard his adorable higher tone cute voice as he was holding our son and feeding him from the bottle of milk I'd pumped that morning.
"Mommy looks so beautiful, doesn't she, Jay?" Jungkook said with a smile on his face. How a man like this exists is still baffling to me.

"Mommy is sweaty and needs a shower. I'll be back down after." I said as I approached him, he stood from the couch and leaned down so I could give him a kiss. I kissed Jay's forehead as well. I left them to quickly shower upstairs in our bathroom.
When I went back downstairs Jungkook was preparing dinner in the kitchen and Jay was laying in his bassinet which Jungkook rolled over to the kitchen so he could keep an eye on him, Jay was wiggling around freelee and he seemed to be very focused on his own hands. I went over and scooped him up, pulling the bassinet with me as I walked back into the living room. .

"How was the workout?" Jungkook asked as he chopped a few carrots.

"It was good. Sonjia is a good workout partner." I replied with a chuckle.

"That's good. Just tell her I said to not push you too hard." He smirked and I nodded and watched as I held our son. I liked watching him cook. I liked how focused he got when he cooked. I liked that he was always ready to make a meal for me even though I could cook for myself, but he took pride in it. It reminded me so much of Jin and I wondered if Jungkook knew just how much like his brother he was.... At least when it came to food and cooking.
"You're doing that thing again." He grinned.

"What thing?" I asked.

"That thing where you stare intently and let your thoughts run, but you never let anyone know what goes on in that pretty head of yours." He answered with another smirk. I smiled and nodded.
