Most people have secrets of some kind. It could be as simple as hiding the fact about losing money from parents. On the other hand, it could be negative secrets about someone's private life. Furthermore, it could be secrets that will destroy others when revealed. Having these secrets, people tend to decide whether they would keep it or reveal it.
First, it's normal for humans to have ordinary secrets. For instance, teenagers are used to keep details about their school life from their parents. Another thing is people usually heard information that became their secrets too. Similarly to the secrets a cooks have, they tend to not share their recipes to others. Therefore, secrets are still secrets whether it's shallow or not and it depends on you if you will release the burden.
Second, sensitive information being concealed became dark secrets for it was risky to tell others. Specifically when a person hides his sexuality to people, especially to his family. Also, people don't talk about their clandestine mistakes from the past. People make another lies to cover up the first one resulting to darker secrets. In short, people worry that if the information is revealed then they could be judged, looked down upon, or someone could use it against them.
Third, others believe that revealing a secret might hurt someone. For example, having the knowledge about an affair of her husband with another woman scares her to destroy their family and hurt their children. Being aware of someone's pregnancy restrains us to tell her parents for the reason that she might break down. That is, there are just secrets that are not meant to be exposed so no one will be ruin.
In conclusion, secrets can be more damaging than anything. Keeping a secret requires a great deal of effort and decision making. The communication strategies that people use to reveal their secrets are a reflection of these decisions. Therefore, secrets are the mysteries of life they make or break us.
