Hi my name's Courtney, and yes I am a normal teenager who goes to school and learns about stuff like algebra. The only thing is I live in a world where people can bend the elements. There's many elements, like Water, Air, Earth, Fire and you get the point. You can tell a person's element by their eye color. Red is The Fire element. Light blue for Ice. Dark blue for Water. But my eyes they are grey. Just plain grey. I am the odd one out because of my element. I have never met any one like me and neither have any one else. So you could say I'm the only one who has this element. My life is extremely messed up. My family doesn't like me and they treat me like a slave because they are ashamed of my element. But things change...
Right?I woke up the sound of people arguing in my house. I look over at the clock 5:20. Perfect timing. I will have an hour to get ready for school. I sit up and stretch then walk to my closet. Trust me, nothing bright and flashy goes with grey eyes.. It sucks. I grab black shirt and a pair of black skinny jeans. I get dressed and look in the mirror at my Brown hair. It goes to about my mid back. I brush it through and head down stairs quietly to make sure my family doesn't notice I'm awake. I have two older brothers who are twins and my parents. That's about it. I walk into the kitchen and grab an Apple and I head back up to my room. "Courtney!! Get your ass down here"
As soon as I sit down to.
I roll my eyes and quickly walk to the kitchen.
"What?" I blurt out. I see my brother Ian, sitting at the table with his nose in his phone.
"Make me..." he stops talking and just points at the waffles on the counter.
"Really. You are to lazy to finish your sentence, let alone get up and grab a waffle." I say as I hand him the plate. He just stares at his phone. I look over at the clock 6:00.
If I leave now then I can walk to school and get there before my brothers..
I walk up stairs and grab my stuff and leave. When I get to school there's no one there.
Great I'm early again.
I sit down behind a tree and I notice some one standing in the field.
By the time I stop staring and thinking why that person is just standing there, it's time for first period. I walk to my locker. When I get there Felix is already there.
"Hey person who doesn't like to answer her texts." He folds his arms and leans against this locker. His bright red eyes sparkle. I stare for a second and he blushes and waves and hand in my face "Hello. Earth to Courtney."
I shake my head "Sorry Felix." I put my hands in my pockets.
"Don't sweat it." He says and pats me on the shoulder.
The bell rings and I walk to math.
That's when it all happened..
