Soon, the preparations had begun for the wedding. With Arjun here, the palpitations had subdued a little. We were shopping here in Delhi whereas he along with Aunty was shopping in Chandigarh. It felt like time had flown with wings on its back. It felt like we started dating just yesterday and here we were shopping for our wedding. I was marrying the love of my life.
'Meera, dekh ye kaisa lag raha hai?' — Maa put her hand on the lehenga in front of her. A beautiful purple shaded lehenga. It looked absolutely gorgeous but I still wanted to explore more options.
'Jaa try karke aa.' —-- She pushed me into the dressing room with somebody because there was no way I could have found the floor in this lehenga, alone. I had half my mind to send him a photo but thoda toh surprise hona chahiye. (some surprise element should be there)
I looked towards Khushi, busy on her phone with Siddharth. He was also in Chandigarh helping his best friend shop for the wedding.
(Look, do you like this?
Go and try this on. )
In the trial area, as I stepped into the lehenga, something did not feel right. It did not feel like it was meant for me. It was a very beautiful piece, but simply not for me. When I came out of the trial area in my regular clothes, Maa made a questioning face. I simply shrugged my shoulders.
'The search carries on. It did not simply feel like me. Wedding shopping not a joke, let me tell you.' — I said, as I sat down beside her on the sofa, Khushi still on her phone.
'Hello madam, focus on me also a little. I am the bride now.' —- I said to her and she looked up from her phone.
'Pati nahi hai wo tumhara, sautan hai meri. Tumhe hi cheen liya mujhse.' —- I continued.
(He's not just your husband. He is also like the other person in my life. He has taken you away from me.)
This line seemed to do the trick. She instantly said bye to him, cut the call and gave me a tight hug. Oh, how I had missed it.
'Let's go shopping, Aunty.' —- She said holding maa's hand.
The whole day passed by in a wink and brought whole lot of exhaustion in the end. At night, in the comfort of my bed I waited for his call, to share my day and to listen to his. In about another ten minutes, the screen lit up with his name.
'Love, how was your day?' —-His voice and the simple question enough to relieve me of my exhaustion.
'It was good but tiresome. We went hopping one shop to another. I never realized shopping was this hard.' — I said wiping the imaginary sweat off my forehead.
'Well, how was your day?' —- I asked
'Pretty much the same as you, but not as tiresome, Miss Meera.' —- I could hear the sarcasm in his voice.
'Are you taunting me, Mr Sengupta?' —-- I raised my eyebrow, he couldn't tell.
'Just stating facts, Love. You should workout a little more, you are going to be a soldier's wife.' — He said feeling proud
'Sure, I am the nutritionist but you tell me how to keep up.' —-I replied with the same sarcasm. He didn't speak for a moment and then I heard a deep sigh.
'You are tired. Don't waste time and go to sleep otherwise you'll wake up cranky.'
'Talking to you is never a waste of time, my love.' — He said and I felt my cheeks go red.
'Okay, but you should still go to sleep.'
'Okay, baba. We'll hang up in another ten minutes.'
(Baba – a term used in affection)
Those ten minutes turned into thirty. It was already twelve when we said good night to each other. Thanks to the exhaustion I fell asleep as soon as I closed my eyes.
The morning came with even more chores than yesterday. On the top of it all, I also had to make some diet plans for my clients. Laying in the bed, I released a frustrated sigh.
'Abhi uthi hai aur abhi se hi thak gayi?' —- I opened my eyes to be met with Khushi standing in my doorway. Her hands on her waist with a stupid smile on her face.
'Kya hai? Bohot kaam hai, soch soch ke hi thakkan ho rahi hai.' — I explained the reason of my frustration this early. She clearly wanted to say something but before she could my phone rang.
It was Arjun. Finally.
(You just woke up and you are tired already?
What? I have so much of work to do, just thinking about it is making me feel tired.)
'Good Morning, Love'
'Good morning Arjun' — I said, my voice suddenly chirpier than before. Some things only he made me feel.
'Ready for the day?' — He asked
'Ab ready toh hona hi hoga apse shaadi jo karni hai, Mr Sengupta.' —- I replied, flicking my hair.
'Being sassy, Ms Meera?'
'Any doubt?'
'Accha, carry on with your day. I will call you in a while.'
'Okay.'
(I have to be ready, Mr Sengupta to marry you.)
With that I started my day, took a bath and came to Maa who was already in the kitchen preparing breakfast with Khushi on the dining table, scribbling something on a notepad.
'What are you writing?' — I ask nudging her shoulder.
'If you have forgotten it is your wedding, Love and we need to plan for it.' — She said and exaggerated on love in a way that made heat rush to my cheeks. She had clearly overheard Arjun saying it in the morning. I glared at her but she did not seem to be affected, clearly taking revenge for all the teasings that I had done.
With that, Maa came with steaming hot paranthas. This day was already better. The wedding was in two weeks and I was an inch away from BrideZilla mode. All I hoped for was that this happiness stays as it is, let all the evil skip us. This moment right here was very precious, and I wanted to just live in it. After the breakfast, we were in the market in a blink of the eye.
Thankfully by some miracle, we finalized the outfits for Haldi and Mehendi and called it a day. I couldn't wait for my happily ever after to arrive.
So, the chapter is finally here. I am thinking of ending it in under 50 chapters (maximum) , I might end it sooner also. So, just be prepared for the end, which might be happy or might be not.
