So much change. You know those first days, when everyone seems to be having a new group of friends? That's how it was again. Physical appearances were changed dramatically as well, I could barely recognize half the people myself. I sat down, headphones in my ears. As I looked around, someone caught my eye. I would have loved if it was someone else, but no, it to be her. She walked up to me, hips swaying a little too dramatically, lips a little too red.
"Harry. Nice to see you again." she said, towering over me with that fake smile of hers.
"Same to you Amanda. Looking nice." I responded. She looked...bad. Completely different.
"Where's your little crowd? The popular one I suppose." she asked.
"I was about to ask you the same thing." I smirked. She laughed a little, glancing behind her and pointing at a group of girls flirting with some jocks. Seemed like her crowd.
"They're over there. Anyways, good talk." she said quickly, walking away to her friends. The soft click of her heels craving for attention.
I sighed, looking down at my lap again. I was such a jerk last year. I wanted to change that. The bell rang, and chaos started. Everyone looked at their schedules, asking each other where each class was and if they had any similar ones. I looked at my schedule, and my homeroom was across campus. Amazing. I power-walked through the hallways, whispering "Excuse me" every once in a while. As I walked into class, it was exactly how I pictured it. Stuff being thrown everywhere, talking (or yelling), and slutty girls sitting on desks.
But there was someone different. I looked to the back corner of the room, and there she was. She was thin. Her hair was fire engine red, with a touch of brown. She was beautiful. Her hair was up in a messy bun, and she was reading something. She hugged her knees, leaning them against the desk. She looked so fragile, her oversized sweatshirt and skinny jeans making her look very tiny. I smiled, making my way to the empty seat next to her.
"Hi there. First day?" I asked. She looked at me wide- eyed, and that's when I noticed how hazel her eyes were. She nodded, not wanting to speak. She sat up and regularly.
"What are you reading there?" I whispered softly, leaning over to her a little. She moved a bit, letting me see the book.
"The Fault in Our Stars." she said softly. I smiled at her.
"You're very pretty. I'm Harry, by the way." I told her. She smiled a little.
"I'm Avery." she responded.
The teacher walked in, clearing his throat. Everyone sat back down, silent. He started introducing himself, but of course I wasn't payin much attention. Avery. What a beautiful name. I already knew I wasn't going to be able to get her out of my mind.
A/N This first chapter is short but I promise the others will be longer! This is kind of like a tease thing.
