There was no way. There was no way that it was truly happening. What was he doing here? I thought I was never going to have to face him again.
"Malaiya, slow down!", Damien yelled and he yanked my hand, making me stop abruptly in my tracks. I was already rushing through the path, trying to find the way back to the house.
"No, Damien. I need to get back", I yelled back at him, even though it hurt me so much to do so.
"Why?", he asked as he searched my face for answers.
"Why do you need to go so badly? Just tell me what's going on?". He had a very pained expression on his face. It reminded me that moments ago, we were making out. Sitting on a bench together. We were happy. I didn't want him to worry... at all. So I sighed and drove my fingers through my messy afro.
"My dad is here", I blurted out.
His eyebrows rose in shock. He didn't say anything. His mouth just gaped open. I realized he wasn't going to say anything so I just spun around and dashed off to the house. The more time I wasted, the more people Jackson pisses off.
Once I got to the patio, I could see all the commotion going on inside. Cole was charging at Jackson while Katherine and Nik held him back. Jackson just stood there glumly with his arms folded across his chest. I slid the glass door open and everyone's attention averted to me. I took in a very deep breath and strode towards Jackson.
"What are you doing here?", I asked him with my strongest poker face.
He reached out, placing his hands on my shoulders. "I came to congratulate my little girl", he said sporting the most sickening and rotten smile. I glared at his arms on my shoulders and wriggled them off in disgust.
"You're not funny", I said through gritted teeth.
He huffed and looked around at all the people glaring at him. Those who didn't know who he was were just confused.
"Alright. The jig is up", he said. He pushed his suit blazer aside and planted his hands on his hips. "I came to the hospital to look for you because the Miltons didn't drop the case. Then I found out you had left. One of the doctors told me I could find you here so here I am.
"You need to get out of my house", Cole's voice boomed through the entire room. Jackson just stood there, unfazed. "Or I will beat you to a pulp".
Jackson flickered an eyebrow at him. He looked back at me and chuckled. "You all don't seem to understand. She is my daughter", he announced pointing to himself. I narrowed my eyes at him. My fists curled into balls at my side's. I was so angry that I felt my face heating up.
"I'm not here to cause any trouble. You're the one who needs to leave her to me", he said slowly. Hayley stepped forward, fueled by her rage and pointed her finger in my dad's face.
"You fucked up, little piece of shit! You bastard! If you think for a damned second that she is going back to you, then you better know now that you're so fucking wrong!", Hayley screamed at the top of her voice. She definitely had everyone shocked, except Jackson. He just squinted his eyes at her like you would a barking Chihuahua. He pulled out his handkerchief and wiped the side of his face in false innocence. Hayley and a few others let out loud gasps.
Jackson was certainly no gentleman. I knew this but no one else did. So of course they were shocked that he would wipe Hayley's spit off his face while she was right in front of him. He continued his bogus rambling.
"You 'do-gooders' as you would paint yourselves are just worming your way into my business", he said. He still had that cocky smile plastered on his face. Hayley was still in shock. He looked at her.
