Violet was in the passengers seat of Kieth's old car that smelt like burnt wood. All she could think, was that she wished he'd go slower.

"Why didn't my mom pick me up?" She asked him.

"The school called me first, and I told them not to call her, cause she'd worry like crazy." Keith responded, his hand steady on the steering wheel. Why would the school call you? it's not like you care, she thought.

"Well what am I supposed to tell her?" She snapped. "It's not like I wan't to."

Kieth turned his head, his eyes focused on Violet's, "You will tell her, whether you like it or not." He said, and she was surprised at his harsh tone, yet still annoyed. She knew she had to tell her, but she just didn't know how to. She won't get mad, she would get hurt.

When Kieth pulled up in the driveway, Violet got out of the car, slamming the door angrily. She stood over the welcome sign for a couple of seconds before swinging the door open, finding her mother sitting on the couch, with her arms crossed over her chest.

"Violet? What are you doing here? Did you skip school again?" She asked shocked, then she saw Kieth walk through the door and toss his briefcase on the couch. He went over to Tanya and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before snaking his arm around her shoulders, pulling her into him. Violet wanted to gag at their affections.

"Wait? What's going on?" She asked.

"You wanna tell your mom what happened?" Keith shoots Violet a look of honesty.

She put her bag on the couch before she began to talk. "Please don't get mad.. I got suspended." Violet watched as her moms eyes widened and her mouth turning into a big O, she didn't know what was gonna happen, only that it wouldn't be good.

"You what?" Tanya voice turned into a whisper, almost as if she was frightened. Violet was expecting crying and screaming but she didn't, she didn't know why, or what was going on. Kieth started rubbing circles with his fingers on the smalls of her back, trying to soothe her, but it wasn't working.

"Why?"

"I got into to a fight with this girl-Only because she broke my walkman." Tanya jolted off the couch and went running to her room, while went Kieth running after her.

What the hell did I get myself into? She thought. If only I never got into that fight. She just sat on the couch, unable of knowing what to do. She knew she had to talk to her, alone, with Kieth not around. That bastard, who is he to tell me what to do?

After sitting on the couch for thirty minutes, clueless, Violet finally got up. She went to her mothers bedroom, waiting till turning the knob. When she did her mom was lying in bed staring at the ceiling, her body was still, and it looked like she was deceased.

"Mom?" Violet called out.

"Yes, Violet." Her tone was hushed, and she sounded creepy. Kieth was no where to be found so she saw this as a opportunity to talk to her.

"Can I talk to you?" She asked, and Tanya stood up, her back leaning against the headboard. It had felt like ages since Violet's been in her parent's room, she had noticed the new change in furniture, and how the window curtains had been replaced, and the new nightstands that stood next to the bed, and the fuzzy rug that were tickling beneath her toes, so foreign, everything felt foreign.

"Yeah." She mumbled. Violet climbed on top of the bed, sitting directly across from her mother. She looked so hollow, almost like her skin was white and her insides were empty.
