It had been twenty-four hours since she had met him. Violet laid in bed, bored and hungry. Sundays were always boring, they usually consisted of her moping around the house, finding ways to figure out the most impossible theories.
It was eight o'clock in the afternoon, and the moon was already out since it had only been the beginning of the winter solstice. Violet went to the kitchen, finding her mom sitting on the couch with the remote control in one hand.
"Hey, What have you been up to?" She smiled.
"Nothing," Violet said, as she sat on the couch next to her, "would you mind if I go to the small diner down the block?" She asked politely. Her attitude problem has gotten much better, she's still feisty at times, but not as bad as she used to be.
"Sure, do you need me to drive you?"
"No, it's okay. I can walk," She said as she put on her shiny, leather jacket over her frail arms.
"Okay." Tanya smiled, receiving one back from Violet. They were in a much better place now. Violet can trust her more than she used to, and she feels more comfortable when she's is around, she felt more safe in a way.
**************
When Violet walked into the diner she sat in the bar stools that were connected to counters. She doesn't usually come here often, but occasionally.
"What can I get you honey?" The lady behind the counter asked.
"Can I get a cheeseburger," she said, "no tomatoes."
"Got it."
When the cheeseburger was ready it looked delicious, the cheese was melted and dripped down the glass plate, and the meat was perfectly tender.
When she finished eating she ordered a vanilla milkshake, with a cherry on the top. She slurped the creamy drink, thinking about how horrible it's gonna be to wake up for school tomorrow morning. A whole new week, more like an eternity.
"Hi, can I get a coke?" Violet heard a voice say next to her, but not just any voice, an English one. She cocked her head to the side, her eyes locking into his. It was Harry.
"Hey, Violet, right?" He said, pointing his long finger in her direction, making her stomach flip and turn in all different directions. He had remembered her name.
"Uhm.. Yeah." Violet said awkwardly. She couldn't believe this was happening, again. Why was here? Isn't he on tour or something? Washington was the most rainiest state in the U.S, so why stay?
"How have you been?" He asked as if he knew her.
"Been good." Violet said as she dipped her straw back and forth into her milkshake, wishing she wasn't so goddamn nervous.
"Did you get home safely?"
"Yeah, I did. Thanks again for waiting with me."
"No problem," he laughed. His laugh sounded beautiful, so happy. Violet kept playing the tune of it over, and over again, just wishing she could listen to it forever.
"Here's your coke," the lady behind the counter said, sliding the coned shape glass to the boy with the curly hair.
He took it, his whole hand gripping around the glass, His hands, they were so big. She watched as he brought it to his lips, the way his Adam's apple was moving up and down as he gulped the soda.
"Do you want some?" He chuckled, noticing Violet's glare.
"Oh, no," she said back, embarrassed, "I already have my drink." She held her milkshake in front her, while Harry nodded his head.
"So, are you planing to come to our show tomorrow night?" Violet looked back at him, His show? Did he just invite me? Her cheeks began heating up, and her heart went, tic, tic, tic.
"You have another show here?" Violet couldn't hide the excitement from her voice, or how she was pretty sure Harry could hear heart, and how fast it was beating.
"Yeah, we play here a lot."
"Why?"
"The people are so energetic. Like you, you always jump around and have a great time, and that's what I like." So he did notice me.
"Wait, so you remember me from your shows?" This was the one question Violet was dying to know, the question that bugged her every single night when she was lying in bed, when her mind hazzy, and she was unaware. She knew that if he answered it right, she would fall hard for him.
"Of course, you would be to hard to forget." And just like that, Violet was disintergrating. Her insides felt like they were melting, and her skin was hot as lava. She was creating feelings. Feelings for a nine-teen year old man, with wicked green eyes.
"Violet?" Harry, tapped her arm, disconnecting her from her thoughts.
"Oh, sorry. What did you say?" Her head was turned to his, and their knees were directly across from each other. They almost looked like a couple, sitting there one by one.
"Do you come down here a lot?" He asked, his hand still wrapped around the glass.
"Not really, no." Before Harry can say something back, The door of the dinner slammed, and when Violet turned, it was Kieth. What was he doing here? When his eyes landed on Violet, he walked towards her and Harry.
"Do you know what time it is? It's eleven o'clock Missy. You were supposed to be home two hours ago!" He screamed, catching everyone's attention. When Violet looked back at Harry, his face showed a sign of confusion, as if he didn't know what to do.
"Lets go," he said, pulling her by the sleeve of her jacket. Violet looked back at Harry, and slightly waved, and he did the same back. She didn't even know it was eleven, she must have lost track of time, it had felt only like a couple of minutes. Though she was pissed at Kieth for dragging her ass out the diner, when she could have still been with Harry.
Violet was silent the whole time Kieth started the car.
"Who was that boy you were talking to?" He asked angrily.
"What boy? I wasn't talking to any." Violet lied.
"Yeah you were, he had tattoo's." Violet looked back at him, offended for Harry.
"So what if he did?" She snapped, her tone harsh.
"You don't talk to people like that, they're no good."
Violet annoyed, and upset screamed, "Can you just drive back home!"
"Hey, you don't talk to me like that!" Kieth screamed back. Violet hated him, literally. She wanted to rip his hair off his scalp till it bled. Who is this motherfucker, telling me who I should, and shouldn't talk to? After a few seconds of silence, Kieth pulled out of the drive way.
Violet didn't want to talk to him at all, she was so angry. Angry, cause he pulled her away from Harry, and basically trash talked him. You don't even know the dude and your judging him, she thought. But then again, Violet doesn't know him that well either, but she knew him well enough.
When she got home, she ran out of Kieth's car, and into the house. Her mom was no where to be found, and when she went into her room, she was sitting on her bed.
"Hi," Violet said, as she swayed back and forth awkwardly.
"Do you know how late it is?"
"I know and I'm sorry," she apologized, "I just lost track of time."
"I believe you Violet, just don't do it again." She sighed when her mother forgave her.
"Thank you, and I won't." She expected her mom to be pissed, but she wasn't. She walked out the door, but before shutting it, she looked back at Violet and nodded her head at her.
When Tanya left she jumped on the bed, her face looking up at the ceiling. The diner was her new favorite place to go now.
She still couldn't wrap her head around the past two days, but it was the best weekend of her life.
