Matilda's pov:

As the months went on at Hogwarts, l have seen some pretty darn crazy things.
Let's just say that after today, I've seen it all.
Which is Snape in Neville's grandmother's clothes.
That was the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life. Snape doesn't exactly have a grudge against me as much as he does against all the other Gryfindor's. If anything I am considered an exception to his hatred towards our house but imagine seeing one of your male teachers in female clothing. Would you be able to keep a straight face? I highly doubt it.
Today after McGonagoll's lesson I walked up to her desk.
"Professor, about Hogsmeade-"
"No signed permission form no going. I'm sorry." She said holding up her hands.
"Professor, I couldn't just-"
"If it's not signed. I'm sorry." She said standing up and putting on her coat.
"But professor you don't understand. I have nobody to sign it." I informed her.
"Matilda. You have a guardian I should hope you would have enough sense to get it signed by her." She said rather harshly.
"Yes ma'am but-"
"NO BUTS! That is my final word!" She yelled.
I felt tears come to my eyes as I turned around and ran out.
I opens the door to see that Hermione, Ron, and Harry were leaned against it. Hermione had tears in her eyes and Harry acted as if he were about to say something but I ran away with tears streaming down my face until I reached the common room.
I then ran up to my dorm and flopped onto my bed sobbing into my pillow.
I then locked the door so no one could come in.

Harry's pov:

"Professor, I couldn't just-"
"If it's not signed I'm sorry."
"But professor, I don't have anyone to sign it."
"Matilda. You have a guardian and I should hope you'd have enough sense to get it signed by her."
"This is horrible, Harry. You know Matilda can't get it signed." Hermione whispered tears beginning to come to her eyes.
"Yes ma'am but-"
"NO BUTS! That is my final word!"
Harsh.
Ron looked at me confused.
Just then we heard the door open and we backed away and saw Matilda with tears staining her cheeks.
She started to cry even more as she ran away.
I looked over at the professor. How could she do that? She was standing over there looking innocent.
"Was it something I said?" She asked.
I glared at her and began running to where Matilda went.
After I ran through the common room I ran up to her door and tried opening it but it wouldn't even budge. I put my ear to the wood and heard sobbing.
"Matilda? Come on! Let me in!" I said but she continue to cry.
"Go to Hogsmeade." She said softly and I could tell she was walking towards the door.
"Not without you." I stated firmly.
"Not with me either. Go on Harry. I'll be fine. Plus I need someone to bring me back candy." She said sitting against the door.
"I can't if you can't. I didn't get mine signed either." I said.
"Really?" She asked.
"Yes really. Can you let me in now so we can cry together." I said in a pitiful voice.
"I don't want you to see me crying." She said sniffing.
"Everyone does it. Come on now." I said.
"Harry. Can I just be alone for a few minutes? It not that I don't love your company. I actually do but I'm just not feeling it today." She said crying.
I frowned at how small and vulnerable she sounded.
"Of course. I had to speak with professor Lupin anyways. Tell me if you need anything." I said standing up and walking away.
It's really hard not to be sad when Matilda is because she's happy all the time! She acts like everyday is her birthday.
Hmm, birthday..
When IS her birthday?
Hmm, never thought about it.

Matilda's pov:

I dried my tears and put on this:
(Knee high trench coat, black tights, brown combat boots, tan beanie, tan fingerless gloves, tan scarf)
I walked down stairs and seen that basically everyone in our age group and up was gone. I looked around the common room and saw a group of second year boys by the fire place.
Once they saw me, their eyes went wide. "Dude look. She's hot." One whispered.
I smiled and winked at them before walking out. It was rather cold outside and I wanted something warm so I went downstairs through a portrait to the kitchen. I went down there all the time to talk to the lonely house elves and I ask them how they are and everything.
"Good afternoon everyone." I greeted as I walked in.
"Good afternoon, Miss Watson." They all greeted back.
I walked over to the coffee maker and put some on.
Once it was finished I put in some creamer and sugar, then I put some whip cream on and caramel and I had made myself a latte.
I walked out and decided to go to the bridge and just stand there and watch the snow.
"Your very much like them Harry. And a time will come when you learn just how much." I heard as I walked across the bridge.
Professor Lupin and Harry both turned to me and I stopped.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Did I interrupt something?" I asked beginning to turn around.
"Not at all, Miss Watson. We were just finishing up." Professor said as he began to walk away.
"Don't you look cozy?" Harry joked as I went to stand beside him against the bridge, looking out.
"Thanks. I figured I'd might as well bundle up, I wouldn't want to catch a cold." I laughed taking a sip of my latte.
"What is that?" Harry asked looking down at my drink.
"Oh it's called a latte. I worked at a coffee shop for a little extra money and I would have to make these all the time. It's quite wonderful. Here." I said and touched the tip of my wand to the cup and it duplicated.
"Thanks." Harry smiled taking a sip, "Mmm. It is really good."
"Thanks." I smiled moving a strand of blonde hair into my beanie.
"I was gonna ask you. When's your birthday? I can't believe I never asked before." Harry laughed.
"September 23." I said.
"What? How come you never told us?" Harry pouted making me laugh.
"No ones ever asked. Besides, I don't even celebrate my birthday. It's just a day of the month is all." I shrugged.
Just then I felt Harry's hand skim mine before he took it and we just stood there watching the snow.
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

We walked up the stairs later that day to see that everyone was crowded around the picture.
"What's going on? Oh Neville's probably forgot the password again." Ron said.
"Everyone get back. I'm head boy! No one is to enter this dormitory until it's been fully searched." Percy said pushing through us.
Ginny broke through the crowd looking a bit panicked and I opened my arms welcoming her into a hug. She looked up at Harry and Ron before saying, "It's the fat lady! She's gone."
We all looked at each other and I continued to rub her back saying 'Shh.'
"Serves her right. She was a terrible singer." Ron laughed and I turned around hitting him on the shoulder.
"It's not funny Ron." Hermione said.
"The headmasters here! Come on move!" Percy and Mr Filch shouted.
I noticed something in the African portrait. It was the fat lady hiding behind a hippo. I ran through the crowd and got to the picture.
"What are you doing here?" I asked her.
"Oh it was horrible." She cried.
"It okay." I soothed. I turned around once I saw everyone looking around I cupped my hands around my mouth and said, "Professor Dumbledore! I found her!"
They all looked over at me and I pointed to the portrait and immediately everyone came running.
"Oh boy. I probably shouldn't have said that." I laughed trying to cheer up the fat lady but she only cried harder.
"Hey! It's okay. You're going to be just fine." I soothed her rubbing the frame of the portrait.
"Thank you, Matilda." Dumbledore smiled once he got to me and I smiled back but when he turned around all the students started trying to get in front of me and pushed me until I felt arms wrap around my waist and hold me so I couldn't fall.
I blushed slightly and scrambled back to my feet.
"Thanks." I said looking down.
"Anytime." Harry smiled.
For some reason he never let go of my waist, it wasn't like I was forcing him to. In fact, it was rather comforting on the outside it looked like I was listening but I was thinking instead. I love to think. It keeps my mind off the actual horrors of the world but then again it distracts me too, which sometimes isn't a good thing.
"-He's here, somewhere in the castle. Sirius Black!" She cried.
Yeah that got my attention. Everyone started muttering and even I started to fidget a bit and apparently Harry noticed because he brought his head to my shoulder and rested his chin on it.
"Secure the castle Mr Filch. THE REST OF YOU, TO THE GREAT HALL!" Dumbledore said.
Everyone immediately started rushing away. Harry started to pull me but I gently shook from his grip and and walked back to the portrait to the still whimpering lady.
"It's going to be fine. They're going to find that man. Hey. Why don't you practice your vocal warm-ups?" I suggested trying to make her feel better.
She sniffed, "Okay. Do re mi fa so la ti do ti la so fa me re do." She said and kept repeating which calmed her down.
"There we go." I smiled and tuned around to see Hermione, Ron, and Harry waiting for me with shocked faces.
"What?" I asked them.
"That was very nice." Hermione said.
"I was just helping out." I said looking back to see her happy and repeating her vocal warm ups.
"You're a good kid." Ron laughed, patting my head.
"Thanks...?" I said walking down the stairs.
***************************************
Everything was quiet in the Great Hall which was empty of tables and instead filled with children stuffed in sleeping bags, some of which snoring *cough cough* Ron.
I slept between Hermione and Harry. But I couldn't actually sleep. I kept tossing and turning and sat up taking my pillow and laid back down sitting it over my face and that didn't work either.
I. Just. Couldn't. Go. To. Sleep.
"Mind your squirming, I'm trying to sleep here." Harry whispered teasing me.
"Ha. Ha. Ha. Very funny." I whispered back laying my head on my pillow and flipping on my side so I could face him.
He did the same with me and was smiling. How is this kid smiling when he knows that there's a mental, raving, murderer coming after him?
"How do you feel about this whole thing?" I asked him.
He shrugged as best as he could from the position he was currently in, "I don't know but I'd really feel safer knowing that you weren't worrying about me."
"I am not worried about you. I'm worried about....myself." I lied.
He rolled his eyes and chuckled, "Since when are you worried about yourself?"
He had a point. I mean I do basically allow a woman at my house to beat, threaten, and curse me and have a sister living far away from here and have no parents or any other family member and I don't give a care in the world but if something like that were happening to someone else I would shower them with kisses and 'I love yous' and I would be all up in their business seeing if they were okay. See I don't care for myself as much as I do other people because all my life, I've been told I'm not worth it. I guess one of the reasons me and Harry are still best friends after three years is that we have too much in common.
"You have a point there." I chuckled and turned on my back staring at the galaxies that Dumbledore put up there to help us sleep a little better.
I felt a tug on a strand of my hair and looked over to see Harry observing my long piece of hair.
"What are you doing?" I asked him.
"Your hair is beautiful." He said. Okay that was pretty random. Maybe he needs some sleep.
"Yeah right." I said smiling a bit.
"I'm being serious. You're very pretty. You just haven't figured it out yet." He said seriously. Somebody's been feeling flirtatious lately. But he can't like me, right? I'm just a mud blood and he's 'THE Harry Potter'. He can't like me. It's a crime against nature.
I smiled at him and he gave me a wink making me snicker quietly and flip back over onto my side and we just stare into each other's eyes until we heard voices and we immediately closed our eyes and pretended we were asleep.
"I've searched the astronomy tower and the owlery sir. There was nothing there." Filch said.
All the professors were telling Dumbledore the same thing. No sign of Black.
They talked some more and I lost interest util I heard, "What about Potter? Should he be warned?"
Me and Harry opened our eyes for a second until we realized they were right behind us so we quickly closed them back.
I wanted to stay up longer but for some reason my mind chose that moment to shut down for the night and I fell asleep.
