After a few nurses rushed in, they helped me lie down to my side and applied some cool packs on my cheek.
One nurse checked their tab of my info before they went to my side and asked to get some of my blood. On my peripheral vision, I saw how worried Third's face looked at me. A few seconds later, the door banged open and I saw my mom and dad holding each other's hands as they were breathing heavily.
"Sakura! Oh my, dear. What happened to you? Are you okay?" My mom rushed to my side and held my face. I let go of a quiet "oww" when she accidentally touched my bruised cheek.
"Ma'am, your daughter's platelet count is getting lower. We suggest limiting her intake of foods that could actually cause harm to her such as spicy food." After they were done assessing me, they left. My heart broke apart as I heard that news. I didn't even realize that everyone's getting blurry to my vision as I felt a liquid gushed down to my chin. "Sakura..." I heard Third whispered my name with guilt in his voice. I wanted to run towards him and hugged him tight and tell him it's not his fault but then again, what would it led me? If I'll only attach myself more to him, he would only be left alone... now that my body is struggling to fight this diseases I barely know.
"Mama, do you think... I'll still live?" I uttered, gathering all the courage to tell what I've been feeling ever since I'm admitted here. My mother only sobbed and shook her head, telling me that I'll be fine, that I will heal. But her actions and the way how my father avoided my eyes only shattered my heart.
Third tried to reach my hand but before he could do it, I kept my hand near to myself. I took a deep breath, shutting my eyes tight. You look so pathetic, Sakura.
"Can you please... leave me alone for a moment?" I said, with my eyes still close. I heard a reaction from my mother but then my father called her name. "O-Okay, dear. We'll just be outside so please call us if you feel something."
I didn't respond. I just let everyone leave. When the room became quiet, I open my eyes... Only to be greeted by a pair of hurting eyes. "Why... are you still here?" I stuttered, leaving my heart beats faster.
"Whatever you're thinking... I hope you would still let me be by your side. I know how it feels to be ill. I know how painful it is not to know when is the time for me to end. But I hope you know that you have us here. You have your mom, your dad, and you have... me," he said, gulping as hard as he could as if it was the thorn that he removed in his throat.
I don't know but those words... Those words that came out from his lips feel so reassuring. As if like a medicine that suddenly heals me.
So I did what I wanted to do awhile ago— ran toward him. Shock is evident to his face as I started to felt his warmth but those embraced me deep— burying me into his neck, telling me how everything would be fine, as if like a lullaby to my ears, I felt my eyelids getting heavier. Maybe it's because of something that the nurse injected, maybe it's because of his presence. I wish this would never end.
