"CRIMINAL MINDS: AN INTRODUCTION TO CRIMINAL PSYCHOLOGY, EIGHTH EDITION."

Vienna was barely awake as Michael slammed a thick book down in front of her, and a few others on the end of the table. The additional books were presumably for the other naturals.

"Seriously?" She looks up at Michael, blinking slowly. It was early in the morning, well, not that early. It was 9:15. But Vienna wasn't a morning person. "Sterling wants us to read a book?"

"Vi, I thought you loved reading?" He asks, a smirk playing on his lips. He looked good, his hair messy and tousled from sleep, the way his voice had a slight rasp to it.

Vienna noticed these things about him. She thought it was because of her knowledge of how peoples' body language changes, but she realized over time that she noticed these things simply because she was falling hopelessly in love with her best friend.

"I do love reading." She mumbles.

"More than you love me?" Micheal pushes the book toward her, and she scoffs.

"Yeah, probably." She murmurs, smiling slightly.

"Oh, yeah? What about now?" He nudged a fresh mug of coffee in front of her.

"Michael, you know the exact way to my heart, don't you?" She chuckles.

"Something like that." He mumbles, plopping down in the chair next to her as she opens the book.

"I just can't believe that this is the way that Sterling wants to teach us. Since the start of the program, we've learned from real photos, real scenes, not just reading books."

"It's probably a waste of time, Vienna, but if we read the first four chapters before the rest of them get down here, we'll have bragging rights for reading on a Saturday." Michael says, a playful smirk tugging at his upper lip.

Vienna couldn't resist such a challenge. "You're on."

WITH VIENNA'S SHARP MEMORY and quickened reading speed, they made quick work of the first three chapters. Her voice was hoarse, though.

"Let me do the last chapter, or you won't be able to speak at the end of it all."

Vienna raises her brow. "You can read?" She teases.

"I will have you know that I am a very good reader. Just because people aren't geniuses doesn't mean that they can't read, Vi." He retorts, his expression showing a mock-offense at her words. .
