~ Kris Imagine ~
Sighing, as I push big boxes from the hallway into the condo I was moving in, I stopped and took a break. I was moving for the past day and my friend Kris was helping me.
He carried up more boxes and plopped them down onto the kitchen island. Looking around, he nodded in approval. "Its a nice size, and a great city night view too." he opens the door out to the balcony and peers down.
"Yeah." I nod, looking in the fridge for water. I threw a water bottle at him as Kris caught it, opening the cap and taking a long swig from it. I drank the water, as it refreshed me and boosted up my energy.. Somewhat..
In this terrible hot temperature during the summer, it was the horrible weather to move around. But, I just got a scholarship to a university, and it was probably a good idea to move near it, instead of having to drive an hour and a half to school.
Kris and I still had to drive back home for a last haul. I didn't bring too much stuff with me, only kitchen supplies, small dining table, couch, TV, desk, and a bed. Along with a few bookshelves, that's about it.
"We should head out to get the rest now, I don't want to get in the rush hour traffic." he said.
I nod, as we both got into the truck and drove back to my old home. I lived toward the country side, and it was quite a bit strange to live in the city, as I imagine it. Its not like I haven't seen the city before, but I'm more of a peaceful minded and quite person, plus, I never thought of living in the city. But what choice do I have?
My mother and I lived in a single family home. It was cozy for the both of us, but now that I am moving out to the condo, my mother decided she wanted to move back to China. She wanted to live with her relatives, and since I am old enough to take care of myself, my mother sold the home, plus, I moved out. Mother went back to China three days ago.
It was going to be extremely lonely, more than it was now. I had my friend, Kris, who we were friends with since the age of six... Although, he was more of a brother to me.. Now living alone, without being able to walk across the street and join the Wu family for dinner, it was kind of a sad thing I was really going to miss.
I'm going to miss my mother also, but she decided that once I finish college, she may come back.
"We can always meet during weekends and holiday breaks, right?" Kris smiles, as he was driving and I was sitting in the passenger seat.
"Yeah.. But I'm really going to miss you, my mom, and your family though.. Seriously, your mother makes great wonton soup, tell her to give me the recipe!"
Kris laughs. "Okay, I'll ask her for it. Weirdo."
"Seriously, though! She makes the greatest!" I giggle.
"Your mom makes good rice cakes too." Kris replied. "I'm going to miss those for dessert after dinner."
We laugh, talking, and singing along to the radio occasionally. We parked in front of the house and began to haul the furniture from inside and haul it on the truck.
After finishing, I lock up the house. Taking a last glance at all the memories and the nostalgic childhood moments.. I get back into the truck as Kris and I go back to the condo in the city.
It was a huge workout, carrying stuff up to the condo. After three hours of putting everything in place, I plop onto the couch, sighing heavily. "Well, that's all done with! Phew! Thanks Kris for helping me out."
