The man walks up to me and punches me in the face. Really, really, hard. The inside of my lip busts against my teeth and starts bleeding. A metallic taste fills my mouth.
"WHERE IS IT!?" He screams. He punches me again. I feel a bruise start to form under my eye.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I whimper. He leans in close to my ear. I close my eyes and make fists with my hands. "Look, little lady. You know where the money is. I think you should tell me before you get hurt." Spittle flies for his lips. "Well it's a little late for that, isn't it?" I spit on him and kick him in the shin.
"YOU SON OF A-" I kick him in the kneecap as hard as I can and hear a satisfying crunch. I wiggle out of my ropes and kick him in the head for good measure. I start to crawl over to the window when another body steps in front of me. It's a womans. She's wearing a mask.
"And where do you think you're going?"
Lizzie's POV
She's been gone for 4 hours. I'm getting seriously worried. I decide that now is most likely the time for me to call 999. My hands are shaking as I dial the number.
"Hello, this is the police department. How can I help you?" I breathe in deeply. Joel squeezes my hand.
"My daughter has been missing for several hours- 4 hours. I think something terrible might have happened." I let out a choked cry and try again to control my breathing.
"Alright ma'am. I'm going to need to ask you a couple questions. Can you answer them for me?"
"Yes."
"Ok. First, has she ever shown rebellious behavior?"
"No. She's never done anything like that."
"Ok. Did you get in to any fights before she left?"
"She didn't leave on her own accord, if that's what you're wondering. She went for a walk. We don't hate each other, so can you get to the part where you look for her?"
"Ma'am, we'll put a team of search dogs on the case. We'll call you if there are any new developments, alright?"
"Yeah, thank you." I hang up the phone and start crying.
"Hey, calm down. She'll be okay. She's strong." Joel says. I nod absentmindedly. Where could she be?
