Ky's POV

"Honestly, this isn't my story to tell," I said.

Nate just shrugged and motioned for me to continue on. I just know that Mel is going to hate me for this.

'Oh, the horror,' I shivered from the thought.

"Okay well, this was all a few years back. We were always moving due to 'family' reasons. In particular, there was this one town that was just so...nice, that we stayed a little longer than we were supposed to. During this time, Mely had actually made a few friends in the town. One of them turned out to be the prince of that country. They almost instantly clicked. I had only met him a few times since I spent most of the time helping my parents, so I don't know to what extent they liked each other. I never really got a bad feeling off of him, except for this one time."

I paused and sighed, remembering that day, since it technically triggered everything. Mom and Pops were out on a special mission for the Royals. I was on a different mission concerning one of the Royal's members. Supposedly she was being unfaithful and giving out secret information to her enemy lover. She really was too! My mission was to follow her and make sure to stay inconspicuous and undercover. It was rather easy; to say she wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed is a...light remark. She ended up in the next town over. However while trailing her, I saw the prince.

I know it was the prince because of the special hair coloring of the Royals. You have to have a trained eye though to notice the coloring; it helps in the profession. I was surprised to see him there and made a note of it. I looked back towards the Royal I was trailing and she had stopped to admire some things in a shop. I looked towards the Prince again and saw that he wasn't alone. He was actually with another person. A woman! At first, I thought that it was my sister because of the similar hair colors, but realized that it was much too short and that there was no reason for her to be in this town. The girl turned to look at the Prince and I saw her profile. He was cheating on my sister with another woman! The bastard! Sadly I did not have time to deal with him. My mission came first and the Royal was once again on her way.

After the mission, I spoke with Mel about her day that day. She said it was nothing special, she only got to see the Prince in the morning before he had to leave to serve as a diplomat somewhere. He told her that he wouldn't be back in town for a few days. I could tell that she really liked him, and I really didn't want to tell her that he was cheating because I didn't know the whole story, but I didn't want my sister to be hurt either. I was conflicted about what to do and I didn't know if I could go to my parents about it or not. She's my baby sister. I was always the one taking care of her when my parents were busy with missions, which was often. Don't get me wrong! We were a very loving family; it's just that Mel and I were a lot closer than she was to our parents.

So instead, I followed him again. Luckily I wasn't on a mission. I caught him in the same act, but with a different girl in a different town. He was a total playboy under the guise of a gentleman. After seeing that, I left the premises and went to go find Mely. Dangerous thing, really. Not the mission of course. Facing my sister is dangerous. I don't know how to handle anything if a girl is crying. I hope she's angry instead, that I can help with.

Turns out she was both. I didn't know what to do. She surprised me by thanking me. I was confused and she explained that she had an inkling that there was something wrong with their relationship. I just confirmed it for her.

Mely was rather devastated at that, but she stood strong and was determined to confront him. He had just come back from meeting with the other girl, since his clothes were the same. It was not a pretty sight. She yelled at him and cussed him out. She even slapped him a couple of times. Luckily, she was in the good graces of his parents. They really liked her because she was so sweet and thought it would be nice to have a connection to our family. Anyway it didn't end well, but we finished our mission and moved on.

Mel had encounters with other princes, not as dramatic as that, but they were still assholes. Thus, her hatred for princes. She seems to think that she has a curse upon her that makes any man she falls in love with cheat on her.

"Poor Mely," Nathan said. "But I am different! If you couldn't tell by now."

"Yeah, real different..." I noted. "What do you even plan on doing to prove that to her? 'Cause I am NOT letting you date her. Her life is already complicated as it is."

"What do you mean?"

"She just has a lot of stuff to deal with, as we all do."

He didn't look convinced, but I couldn't say anything. It wasn't my place. Our lives were meant to be secret. He shouldn't even be here with us. It is dangerous for both of us.

**************

Hi! First and foremost, this and the next chapter will be dedicated to @WestieWest. I thank you so much and I apologize for not updating for 2 years. Truly I am. I tend to procrastinate and lose the goal of the piece.

I also changed my username because I didn't like my old one.

I hope these two chapters make up for my absence, but I highly doubt it. I also hope it is a good enough explanation for now about why Mel hates princes.

Thanks so much! Vote, comment, the works. <3
