"I Love Her, She Hates Me"
*this is a modern day story*
Chapter 1
"Damn, this tree is higher than I thought", I muttered to myself.
I slowly inched down the tree, looking up every few minutes. I was afraid of being caught and brought back. Well, to explain why, is that I am a prince. I am the prince of the kingdom, Korile. My name is Nathaniel Masons, but my friends call me Nate. Yeah, I know, a prince shouldn't be doing this, but, hey, we need to have time to ourselves too, y'know. I was getting too overwhelmed the past few days. I needed to get away from all this pressure. Don't think that all princes are naturally graceful, polite, and all that shit. Yeah, I said shit! So what! Anyway, we're not, well I'm not anyway. We have to go through all the lessons and get it right. It's horrifying! I'm telling you this now for your own sakes, DON'T EVER WISH TO BECOME A PRINCE!! You will, and I mean, you will regret it. Ok, now back to me escaping.
I finally reached the bottom of the tree. I jumped down, looked around, and ran down the estate to the gate. I climbed up over the gate, and walked down into the street. All you could see were the light posts, shining on certain spots on the street. I walked down looking for a place to shelter myself. I sighed as I kept walking and looking around. There were still a few people out, though I wonder why. It's so late out and very dark. I should be careful. I could tell they were eyeing me to see if I had anything valuable. I kept on walking and looking straight ahead. I was almost spacing out looking down, but I still noticed that someone, or some people, was surrounding me. I decided to take a chance and look up. They were burly, scarred, and big muscular men. There were about, maybe 6 or 7, of them. I knew I could probably take down maybe 2, or 3 of them. I was thinking of a way to beat the shit out o' them and get away. But then, I saw one of the guys being knocked down. I saw a guy, maybe, about a couple of years older than me, knock him out. I decided to help him out and knock out another guy. We knocked the other guys out and were breathing heavily. He walked somewhere, and then I noticed that there was a girl about my age, standing there, with a worried look. I couldn't tell what she looked like since it was dark. The guy went to her and was talking to her and I think gesturing towards me. She was nodding and talking back, and with a final nod, they both walked over to me. They stopped a few feet away from me. The guy started to say something, but then looked at the girl for approval. She looked back at him and nodded.
"Ok, then, here goes," he mumbled a bit. Then he looked at me. "Umm...Would you like to stay at our house for the night?"
I was a bit startled that he asked me that, considering the fact that I didn't know him. I was thinking whether I should stay with them or not. Hmmm....Go with them to a probably safe and warm house, or keep walking through the night looking for shelter and most likely get mugged. I choose the probably safe and warm house.
"I'd love to, but are you sure? You just met me?" I asked. I HAD to act non-princely so that I wouldn't get turned in, and boy, was that hard to do after all the lessons I took. They looked at me and smiled.
"Of course we're sure." he replied.
I nodded and followed them as they walked to their house. We reached their house after about 15-20 minutes. I looked over their house. It was a decent-sized house, I mean compared to mine. It was too dark to describe anything else. After he unlocked the door, and we got settled, we introduced ourselves. The girl went first.
"Hi, I'm Melissa Robins, but you can call me Mely," she said. I looked at her she was really pretty and cute. She was about 5'10 when she stood up. She had long, brown-black hair, and mesmerizing ice-blue eyes. I kept staring at her until that guy spoke up. I looked at him, startled. He was...glaring... at me? I wonder why? Did I do something wrong?
"Hi, I'm Kyle Robins, call me Ky if you want to," he said. I looked at him. He had a slim build with barely noticeable muscle. He had pure black hair and hazel eyes. I was about to ask him why he was glaring at me when he said, "We're brother and sister."
Oh, I thought, that's why he was glaring at me. He must be protective of her. That's sweet, I guess. Well, now I guess I have to make up a name if they think to turn me in.
"Ok. Well, my name is Jace Myles, you can call me Jay," I told them. I hope they believe that.
"I like your name. It sounds cool," Mely told me. I smiled and said thanks.
Then it was quiet for awhile. We sat there and then turned on the TV. We watched a movie. It was hilarious. Then I looked at Mely and Ky. Mely fell asleep on Ky's shoulder. She looked really cute. I looked at Ky and he was looking at his sister smiling with loving eyes.
"Umm... so... where are your parents?" I asked, trying to break the silence.
"Oh, they're on a trip, so they left us here to watch the house," he said. "What about you? What were you doing out late at night?"
"Oh, that. Well, umm...Let's just say that I was taking a walk," I said, a bit nervously.
I guess he took the hint that I didn't really want to talk about that much because he nodded. Then after awhile he took his sister upstairs to her room. I took this moment to thoroughly survey their living room. It was pretty nice. The couch was soft and comfy. There were two on each side, a loveseat in the middle, a see-through coffee table, and a nice flat screen TV in front of the couches and the loveseat. The room was painted a nice shade of blue and white. There were a few pictures on the walls, and some magazines on and under the coffee table.
"Hey, do you want me to take you to your room?" Ky asked, startling me out of my survey. "You must be tired."
I nodded and said "Sure. Thanks."
He led me up the stairs, to a room at the end of the hall.
"This is the guest room. My room is across and a few doors down." he said. "If you need some clothes, you can borrow mine. I'm a bit bigger than you, but they'll still fit. Oh, and my sister's room is right across from mine, so don't even think about going to her room."
I simply nodded and he gave me some clothes to sleep in. I closed the door after we said goodnight and looked around the room. It was pretty nice for a guest room. It had a TV, a bathroom inside, a bookcase with a few books, and it was a purple-grey color. The bed was a queen size and some grey satin sheets. I sat on the bed and it was soft. I got up, took a shower, changed clothes, and went to sleep. I had a nice dream.
