{Leight's POV}

"Is that Orion?"

I pointed up towards the sky at a line of stars. Matt and I were laying in the grass on top of the hill just behind the school yard that had a great view of the stars at night. My light blue prom dress and his tux were already dirty from the dew that the sprinklers had left on the grass, but I don't think either of us minded it at all. Of course, we were supposed to be at prom right now, but what was the fun in that?

Matt laughed lightly. "You really think I know?" he said smiling at me.

I put my arm down and stuck my tongue out at him. "We had a project on it; why wouldn't you?"

"Stars don't interest me enough for me to the know the constellations by hard."

"Seriously, what does interest you?" I asked sarcastically. He rolled over on his side facing me with a goofy smile on his face. "You interest me."

I smiled. "That doesn't count."

"Well, why not?"

"It just doesn't."

Matt suddenly made his way on top of me, making me blush. "You're much brighter than any star I've ever seen."

I laughed and pushed him lightly. "Get off me, you weirdo. I'm sure you've told all your other girlfriends that."

He leaned down and kissed me, caressing my face gently. "Nope, just you," he said, pulling back and staring at me for a moment. I stared back, getting a bit lost in his eyes as I did pretty often.

"I love you, Leight."

"I love-,"

Before I could even get my words out the sprinkler system came back on, soaking us almost instantly. We burst out laughing, not knowing what else to do at the moment. He stood up and helping me up off the ground. "Okay time to go," I said. I picked up my shoes and my dress, trying to get ready to run, only to be stopped by a giant ripping sound.

Before I knew it, me and Matt were toppling down the hill, hitting the fence around the football field at the bottom. I looked up at Matt dizzily who was cursing like a sailor. "You okay?" he asked holding his head.

I shook off my dizziness a little and nodded.

We sat there in silence for a while, but soon got into a laughing fit. "That was terrible," I said our laughing dying down a bit.

"No shit," Matt said. "How did you fall in the first place?"

I looked down at the dress, remembering the ripping sound just before we fell. My big toe had ripped a hole right through a strip of fabric from the dress. "Oh, great," I sighed.

He turned to me. "What?" I shook my head and we once again sat in silence.

Matt moved closer to me after a while, wrapping his arms around me. "You know," he started, "this may be the last time we get to see each other for a long while, me going to college and all."

I rolled over and laid there in his arms. "I know. I don't like to think about it; our last night together shouldn't be so depressing."

He hugged me tighter. "I'm gonna miss you like crazy, Leight."

"I'm gonna miss you, too. But as long as we stay in touch it won't be that bad, right?"

"Yeah... I keep telling myself that, but I still don't wanna leave... I have to though, or I might lose the opportunity."

I sighed. "I know. I love you so much, Matt."

"I love you, too, Leight."

That was the last night I ever saw of Matt again.
