A had a few hours to spare before I had to start working again. Once again, Owen wanted to speak to me, about more important matters this time, as he said. I was already dressed and looking suitable, wearing my uniform and hiking boots. I headed out the door, smiling wildly.
At last I arrived at Owen's bungalow, I couldn't spot Owen sitting outside. I felt a tap on my shoulder, I grabbed the hand and turned around. I saw a man wearing a grey hoodie, covering his face.
"Ow!" I quickly let go of Owen's hand. "What was that for?"
"I thought you were a kidnapper!" I slightly yelled.
"Well, I'm not! Anyway I- I love you," I gasped at Owens expression.
"Owen, I- I- I'm speechless."
"I knew I should've waited!" Owen stormed away, disappointed in himself, back to his bungalow.
"I," I paused to think about my words. "I love you too." I sighed and walked back to my car.
"Wait!" Owen's new grey hoodie was now only covering his right eye. "You really mean that?"
"Yes! I do mean it! You saved my life!" I simply smiled, before Owen pulled me into a hug. Owen smiled back, then swiftly changed that hug into a kiss. I was astonished at first, then kissed him back. We pulled away from each other,
"So, what's with the hoodie?" I asked.
"Oh! Right, umm." He pulled down his hood and revealed two large scratches above his right eye. I clasped my hands across my mouth, then gave him another hug. I shoved Owen off of me and said,
"Us, this! The little lovey dovey thing here, it has to wait. I've got work,"
I crouched into my car and sighed, I felt ashamed. I couldn't help it, everything I said, it just slipped out. I started driving over to the containment situation, I had turned of the radio. I really wasn't in the mood for listening to music, or hearing people who have won ten grand, I only wanted silence.
As soon as I arrived, I started attending to the damaged dinosaur. The first thing I noticed was an aqua coloured flash surrounded in glass, on the floor. At first, I wasn't quite sure what it was, but then I realised that the blinking light was the tracking implant. I stared at the implant heavily, then tapped the shoulder of the guy next to me. He looked at me angrily, as I had just interrupted him in a conversation, I pointed at the implant and he started examining it, not daring to pick it up.
A few minutes later, a familiar, frail hand poked my arm, I smiled, then looked up.
"Hey Jess! How's Arrid n' stuff?" I kept quiet about the whole 'Owen and me' thing.
"I know you love Owen!" Jess started giggling to herself.
I stood up and dragged her to a much more private location, "How do you know that?" I said through gritted teeth.
"Simple, I mean." Jess' face turned from a dainty smile to a horrible scowl. "Look, Owen is literally my boyfriend. How was your first date? Oh, yeah that's right! You've only kissed!" Jess stormed off, and to think we were friends.
I wouldn't have even hugged him if I had known Jess and Owen were a thing. I stopped feeling horrible for my mistake, then realised that Owen said I love you and he kissed me first, it's not my fault it's his.
A worker walked over to me, "Shifts over for the day, at least for you. When you're not a new worker you get extra work," He lifted up his hard hat and wiped some dirt off of his brow. I nodded and started heading to Owen's bungalow.
