Day 6
6. Write a scene where you absolutely love the outfit one of the characters is wearing.
Three rapid knocks came from the front door downstairs, followed by my best friend Samantha's hollering. "Tracy! I'm here!"
I gave my hair one last fluff before picking up my striped red tote bag and bounding down the stairs. I jumped the last three steps and greeted Samantha, who was currently sitting on the couch, legs tucked beneath her, texting away on her phone.
"Hey." I greeted.
"Hey yourself," she said, putting her phone away into her colorful paint-splattered canvas bag. She noticed me staring at her bag and said, "I made it today with the help of Mike,"
Mike was Samantha's boyfriend. He was an aspiring artist and was fairly popular at our school because he often threw awesome parties.
"I thought it would look good with my outfit," she grinned. I looked her up and down. Samantha was wearing a pure white summer dress as long as above her knees that complemented her light tan, floral print wedges and had a red rose in her hair. I wasn't sure if it was real or not. On her index finger was a turquoise mood ring that clashed against the rose in her hair but blended well with her bag that mostly had red, turquoise and yellow splashed across it.
She was right. Her bag united the colors of her outfit. She looked amazing today - we had to - because we were going to a pool party but we weren't going to be flaunting swimsuits. We decided to skip the pool and just snack on the food and take pictures and socialize.
I was wearing a red off-shoulder crop top and jean cut-offs with woven wedges. On my shoulder I carried my tote bag that held all our poolside necessities - a camera, tanning lotion, magazines to keep us busy, hair ties and clips, even towels just in case. I was good and ready to go.
I slipped out my phone and checked the time. "Come on, Sam. We better get going before we're late!"
I opened the front door, waited for Sam to exit first and locked it upon leaving. We made our way to Sam's car - a blue Chevy, and I opened the passenger side and got in.
Sam blasted the radio on as we drove to Natalie's house, where the pool party was going to take place. We sang loudly to Taylor Swift's song 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' and guffawed when my voice went out of tune on the high "weeeeeeeeeeee" part.
We were pulling up to Natalie's driveway and we were still laughing like pigs from my singing mishap. I stumbled out of the car, finally almost done laughing. But then Sam gave out this ridiculous snort and we started howling all over again. We must've looked high, nearly tripping our way over to Natalie's pool in the backyard, still dizzy with laughter.
So just image our surprise when Soren and his friends just jumped in front of us and sprayed us with their huge water guns.

Picture to the right is Samantha's outfit. Just imagine the top-and-shorts onesie as a summer dress instead.
